Former CNN host Don Lemon turned heads after revealing that he now watches conservative news, adding that he “cut the cord” on mainstream media outlets.
Nearly nine months after his departure from the left-leaning network, Lemon sat for an interview with Puck News for the outlet’s third annual “Guide to Mirth & Merriment.” Lemon, alongside fellow guests Gwyneth Paltrow, Lena Waithe, Mickey Drexler, Risa Heller, and Jeffrey Leeds, provided his recommended content in the form of podcasts and shows.
Lemon told Puck, that he has “cut the cord” and in a surprising turn, at least two of his favorite content sources are fairly conservative.
“Since leaving corporate media I cut the cord. I have an extensive, eclectic streaming palate now: Fellow Travelers on Showtime; PBDPodcast (it’s very conservative); The Ben Shapiro Show (I want to hear his take on Israel); Pivot (of course); Piers Morgan Uncensored (very real, authentic conversations you don’t get in corporate media); Pod Save America (obvi); The Daily (every single day); Smartless (the best); The Adam Friedland Show (smart, irreverent, funny; download the Chet Hanks episode for evidence).”
Given past clashes between Shapiro and Lemon, the addition of The Daily Wire’s editor emeritus was perhaps the most surprising, with Patrick Bet David’s PBD Podcast another curious choice for a man who once headlined CNN’s most radical left identarian broadcast.
One need look no further back than a now infamous 2017 interview that saw Shapiro devastate Lemon on the topic of bringing down historic monuments to Confederate Veterans in the wake of the Charlottesville protest that August.

The Daily Caller hearkened back to what could be considered more conservative takes from the former CNN frontman, in what could be interpreted as a possible rightward drift for the host. The Caller cited a 2022 clash with his two female co-hosts on whether male athletes should earn more than women’s athletes due to greater audience reach, in addition to 2013 moment that saw him criticize black people to “pull up your pants,” and turn from “hip-hop and rap culture.”
“Pull up your pants. Walking around with your a** and your underwear showing is not okay,” Lemon said according to Daily Caller. “In fact, it comes from prison when they take away belt from the prisoner so that they can’t make a weapon. And then it evolved into which role a prisoner would have during male-on-male prison sex. The one with the really low pants is a submissive one. You get my point.”

I don’t like Lemon but a lot of this proves that in cable news and sometimes even political PAC gigs your political ideology depends on who’s giving you a paycheck.
