The Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the rise of the internet, the personal computer, the breakdown of the Soviet Union, and the Pacific tsunami of December 2004 apparently qualify as black swan events.

The rise of the Internet and the personal computer were not "Black Swan Events", they unfolded over years, and businesses and pundits and fiction writers foresaw most of the aspects of both.

President Reagan accurately predicted the breakdown of the Soviet Union.

I would think something along the lines of the Bear-Stearns collapse followed by a lot bank bailouts would come closer, as the U.S. response to bank failures had never been that massive. Ditto covid. We have had worse pandemics without the craziness that Covid entailed, largely because doctors and scientists had never been so politicized before.

I tend to think some people stumble onto true predictions.

A guy I don’t respect was on Coast to Coast and was genuinely out of touch with politics and sort of stupid sounding was asked a couple of months ago to predict about politics and wasn’t aware there is a blockbuster election in Nov.,2024. He said he felt a female influence coming upward. Host: “That has to mean Nikki Haley.” “Who?” “She’s the only major candidate who is a woman.” But the guy said Trump was not going to be there to be elected. God forbid he’s right.

A more respectable one on the same show in mid 2019 said unlike his yearly prediction as a guest there was something extremely black coming, so dark he didn’t want to discuss it. Noory (host): “A world war? An assassination before the election?” “No, something else terrible I won’t get into. It will drag all of us down.”

5. China invades Taiwan during the general election (Biden paralyzed by election impact).
6. Stock market collapses.
7. Illegal immigrants organize and march on Washington DC and the Capitol, just like J6.
8. Great Britain majority Muslims overthrow the monarchy.
9. Iran nukes Tel Aviv.

10. Israel nukes Mecca.

He truthfully called it “the evil empire.” Perhaps those words were the “Black Swan.” Who expected an American President to have moral clarity and to tell the truth? Our press was shocked. Members of the Soviet military said that that 72 hours after the balloon went up, Soviet Tanks would occupy Paris. The Army introduced a slew of new weapon systems in response and the Air Force introduced the A-10. Tactical nuclear missiles, cruise missiles helped round out the response. There were significant weapon system advances in the Air Force and Navy, and there was Star Wars. We allowed Soviet spies to steal US technology that was intentionally defective.

There are plenty of potential terrorists streaming over our southern border everyday, so it is quite plausible that there will be an attack(s) of some sort. I also wouldn't rule out China invading the country, but that might be a few years down the road.
