Econ 101 and 102 - the basic laws of the Economics of Supply and Demand - artificially force wages up and available jobs and supply of good goes down. Simple, basic, true. That is why countries under Government Command and Control (AKA “socialism”) are always empty on grocery shelves and home cupboards.
I love the gaces screwed up in incomprehension when the young shits are told that the real minimum wage is zero. Incomprehension turns to rage when you explain it to them.
Keep wrecking the dollar and who cares what you pretend to give people.

On the bright side, it would greatly increase automation of existing functions.

My kids might love it as they wouldn’t have to compete with the “adults” for low skill retail jobs. Could they negotiate and accept a lower rate with some perks probably? $17/hr? Part time? They don’t have to have that kind of money. The demand for them would be nuts. Employment agencies for teenagers could become a great opportunity.

Raising wages with concomitant increases in productivity is just turning a dial which isn’t connected to anything.

It’s not complicated. You let the free markets set the appropriate minimum wage in each jurisdiction.
Today at the convenience store I noticed the price of milk up about 50 cents. That’s ok, though, because the EBT folks in line ahead of me were buying Monster drinks and chips.
This is a catch 22 for a liberal policy. Libs say the minimum wage must be a living wage for an ‘adult”, but by doing that they keep the adults in the minimum wage jobs and leave no jobs for the next generation of ‘adults’
Rush used to say why not $20...or $50. I mean why not $1,000,000. Let’s really get people out of poverty!
I am in favor of raising the minumum wage. Lees peope on welfare.
