The interpretation should be, WWIII would start if Russia invaded Poland or Romania, which Putin has zero interest in even trying.
All he wants (and can do) is to secure the eastern provinces and make sure the rest of Ukraine remains neutral. Anything beyond that is just bluster.

Good point, well said.

I mentioned earlier (post #14) that hopefully Trump can broker a peace treaty that would end this war. What you said above would have to be acknowledged.
But why would Ukraine agree to such a thing? Something would have to be added to satisfy Ukraine. Perhaps Russia could “buy” those eastern provinces with a huge amount of oil and gold.
It would be like the Gadsden Purchase. The United States bought the territory from Mexico. Mexico agreed, as they knew the US could just take the land if they wanted to.
” Someone will slap Slow Joe with the 25th Amendment and remove him, if we get anywhere close to declaring a world war over the Donbas. “
I’d like to believer this, but given Regime Decay, the probability of election defeat, I don’t think it is automatic.

Finland, Sweden and lately, Lithuania, see it differently.
