President Donald Trump has ordered federal agencies to streamline their “agricultural biotechnology regulatory process” to make it easier for companies to develop and market genetically modified foods.
The executive order comes less than a week after the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced plans to update its GMO regulations in a way that greatly reduces the number of genetically engineered plants that would be subject to USDA review.
