It is interesting, that the gun control in Europe was motivated by the lack of hunting grounds or their abundance.
In the densely populated countries, like England, the elites did want to reserve hunting for themselves, so they ban gun ownership for the plebs.
In sparse populated countries like Sweden, there were enough wildlife for everybody, so people were allowed to hunt and to have guns.
To this day, the gun laws in particular countries follow this pattern!
