Is the Obama, I mean Biden, Administration playing Electric Boogaloo? Or is it Electric Boondoggle?
The average price of a used Tesla has declined 18 months in a row, moving from a record high of $67,900 in July 2022 to a record low of $35,844 today (-47%).
On January 11, I noted Hertz Is Selling 20,000 EVs Due to Lack of Customer Demand
Hertz is selling a third of its EVs globally, with 20,000 in the US and will use some of the money to buy more Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) gasoline-powered cars.
On January 18, I commented $2 Billion in Subsidies, Only 2 EV Stations Opened, the Holdup is Social Justice
In yet another example of Biden incompetence, the administration is setting up rules making it harder to deliver EV charging stations.
Like insects that the World Economic Forum wants us to eat (while Kerry, Gore, Klaus Schwab and other elites eat wagyu beef and slurp champagne in their private jets), people apparently don’t want to be forced into buying an EV. Only 6 Percent in the US want an EV for their Next Vehicle.
I will wager that Obama/Biden (not even including VP Harris since she has seemingly been disowned by O’Biden, wish that they could COMMAND EVs been bought. Look at China’s share of EVs: 33%!
Just play some accordian music to relax. Like “Cabbage rolls and coffee.” At least cabbage rolls and coffee don’t use meat, a no-no from the World Economic Forum.

a correction to the article - Cabbage rolls DO use meat. Typically the filling consists of ground meat mixed with rice.
Again, media only mentions Teslas.
How badly are the other auto makers’ EVs doing? Layoffs and plant closings to come if they depended upon EV sales and government aid. Only goes so far.
they say 95% of all electric vehicles are still on the road... the other 5% made it home.😁
I wouldn’t mind having a small EV for flitting around town if
it was a second car
a real 200 mile range
about $20k
insurance wasn’t 3x what my regular car was
I didn’t have to worry abound burning down my house
didn’t have to spend an extra $1-2 grand on a home charger
had some resale value
When the price drops down to five Benjamin’s, I might consider purchasing a used EV for going to the store. Keep it charged in the driveway for puttering around town like it’s a golf cart. Never get rid of my ICE vehicle though.
Teslas are the new Yugos.
Owners of used Teslas will probably have to PAY someone to take it off their hands, after the batteries only hold a charge for 10 miles, or are a timebomb waiting for a weakened cell to short out, heat up, and set the whole thing on fire.
Tesla is giving customers as much value as possible for their customers and has a stated corporate goal to get their price down to $25,000. Hertz just realized the 100k units needed to shelved 3 years to make it viable as rentals.
As much as I think electric vehicles are not the best answer, they will become 25% of sold due to city’s making them best there.
Your comment reminded me of “porcupine balls” in my childhood. Anyone else remember them?
Not worth it to me having a potential incendiary bomb taking up valuable space in my driveway.
And I forgot in the previous post one of my house rules is: Don’t keep explosive ordinance in the house. Regular ammunition is fine, even tracer but no explosives.
For those living in their own homes with a battery charger and the use of an EV as a second or third car may work. But that’s a select market.
Yum, yum you are making me hungry!
I saw used Teslas on for sale from one of the big rental companies and they were 2021 and 2022 models with around 100k miles for about $22,000. I wouldn’t buy a car that was guaranteed to need $15-$20k replacement batteries in 100k miles.
Betcha anyone who”s ever had to replace their cordless drill battery cringe’s at the thought of replacing one for a dang car. Many times I’ve just thrown the whole shebang away and buy another drill kit on sale cheaper than the replacement battery.
Have a closet full of printers that just need new ink cartridges but a new printer with ink was cheaper.
Since the number of Teslas being sold has increased, from 367k in 2019 to 1,313k in 2022, the average age of used Teslas is increasing. I am no Tesla fan but the average price of used Teslas has to be looked at adjusting for the average age.

In other words if 2019 was the first model year (assumption just to make a point) then in 2020 all used Teslas were only 1 year old. Now obviously there are 5 year old Teslas on the used car market.
“ For those living in their own homes with a battery charger and the use of an EV as a second or third car may work. But that’s a select market.”
Absolutely correct. And I am one of that select market. My Ford Mach e is a great commuter car and I prefer it to my other vehicles (all of which are high mileage and paid off).
Take it on a long trip? No thanks.
Hey, you’re not supposed to be logical here.
