The community is royally pissed. Athens-Clarke county government has become more and more progressive over the past couple of decades. It is a dot of blue surrounded by a sea of red in the State of Georgia. It is a “sanctuary county” in the state in that it does not cooperate with ICE or turn in illegal aliens when arrested.
The leadership of both the county and the university are going to have to publicly take a position. And, they had better step lightly or they may find themselves unemployed.
Every college town is that way. Maybe this incident will wake the woke..................
I will be very surprised if the University and the county have to do this. The left is seldom forced to do anything that does not advance their cause. The propaganda media protects them both with with its biased reporting and with what it chooses to bury.
