Why has there been an increase in the number of people who don’t want to participate in government surveys? Well, the first answer is fairly obvious: People don’t trust the government or anyone that happens to be related to the government.
I once knew a woman briefly, who worked for US Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. She would be having discussions with “the voices” while alternating talking to a real person. You didn’t want to interrupt “the voices”. Your government at work.
Is the Census having the same problem? They do not like it when you fill out what you feel is the Constitutional data for apportionment of the House and stop before you get to the racial, ethnic or other questions. I look forward to 2030 when they will probably add thirty new options to the sex question unlike the two answers in 2020.
