Atlantic Magazine Begs Justice Sonia Sotomayor to Retire from Supreme Court
Newsbusters ^ | March 19, 2024 | P.J. Gladnick

Imagine being not yet seventy years old and being told, not exactly politely, that in the interest of liberalism you have to be put out to pasture. When that message went out to Justice Stephen Breyer in 2021, he was at least over eighty when the leftists told him his time was up on the Supreme Court. With Justice Sonia Sotomayor, despite being over ten years younger than Breyer when he retired, Josh Barro writing for The Atlantic announced that it was time for her to withdraw in the interest of liberalism as you can see in "Sonia Sotomayor Should Retire Now."

This is a Tell that the Democrats have no confidence in Joe Biden winning in November.

After the fiasco yesterday... You’d think they’d go for K. Brown to step down.

Why is it so important for the scumbags at a far-left rag to call for a change of who is on the SCOTUS? Using the FERAL courts for social engineering is worse than insurrection and the azhos that engage in it should be thrown in jail.

Good point—they must know something the pearl clutchers abound here can’t figure out....

Hey, I find great comfort in clutching my pearls, as I fall to my fainting couch.

She should step down to attend a high school civics class.

its the senate that is likely to go Republican this election that concerns the Dems. Even if Biden wins, if he has a GOP senate it limits his ability to nominate radical judge candidates

She’s a type 1 diabetic, she’s already over the average life expectancy for someone who suffers from it.... That was about the only good think about this appointment, is that this activist judge’s shelf life would not be too long.

Honestly, I expect the dems to do everything in their power to get her to retire soon, so they can use her replacement as a battle cry to rally their non motivated troops this fall.

I expect you will be hearing this drum beat getting louder and louder in the coming months... as they know Biden is heading into a buzz saw, and need ANYTHING to try to get their supporters motivated.

She retires, they will nominate some radical activist, and with control of the Senate be able to push them through, but will make sure it’s as big and nasty a fight as possible even though they can just make it happen, as close to the election as possible, to get the base motivated.

If I had to venture a guess, I’d say somewhere around Sept/Oct will be when the Dems want the appearance of a fight, so, plan accordingly.

And she won’t retire. Leftist elites have bigger egos than anyone.

I’d say the chances she retires are low.

She isn’t. And she may be the least insane of the leftists on the court.

If she retires now, The Cabal gets to tell Biden whom to appoint, and Schumer gets to ram said appointment through the Senate.

That’s assuming the Republicans really want to stop the radical judicial appointments...NOT a given!

“Even if Biden wins, if he has a GOP senate it limits his ability to nominate radical judge candidates.”

I think you’re underestimating the RINOs in the senate. They work for the Democrats. For example:

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) voted against confirming Amy Coney Barrett for SCOTUS.

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) voted to confirm Kentanji Brown Jackson for SCOTUS.
