Thanks for posting that information regarding the "VDR." It confirms that these VDR's are powered by batteries, and backup batteries, and not connected to the ship's power. Which, naturally, makes sense.

So it's "interesting" that this fairly new ship, less than 10 years old, was experiencing so many main ship's systems problems...and now we learn that about 2 minutes of critical sensor data...is missing. The VDR "stopped" recording sensor data for 2 minutes, and then started back up.

And there it is…
