I am thankful my ancestors were expelled from Scotland in the early 1700s.

My grandpa (little boy, seated) and his family immigrated from Scotland in the late 1800s. Like most immigrants to America, they prospered.

Mine left during the clearances, or so I have been told. My original ancestor came here and fought in the Revolutionary War with the patriots and Washington. The earlier ancestors went to Germany and some came here from there.

My original Scottish ancestors were Norman Vikings and Danes that fought with King David in the 12th Century. I have some Welsh ancestry too. They were awarded land in Scotland and became Scots.

I don’t have any relatives in Scotland now.

My grandmother’s ancestors came here from Ireland. They were called ‘black Irish” because of their dark hair and eyes. I took after the Scots side. LOL Picture of a 17-year-old me in my profile.
