We’ve got the reflection pool (small wading pool for grandkids) set up so we can look at the eclipse through the water reflection instead of directly.

I just stepped outside to Lake PJ out back and it should work there. I saw the sun in the reflection and will check back at almost 2 PM when the partial eclipse begins.

Eclipse anxiety; send in the army of therapists. Cancel all classes. Raise taxes. Wait, how’d that get there?

Has been amusing to watch the local area weathermen duck & dodge the past week with their weather predictions. Even up to the late forecast last night they still wouldn't commit on exactly what would go down, choosing to focus talk about the storms tomorrow. The fearporn being peddled about mass crowds, traffic snarls, collapse of communications used as justification to declare a state of disaster/emergency have not materialized. It's been handled like a mix of Comet Kohutek meets Covid 2020.

Largely clear on The Jersey Shore but fingers of cirrus clouds are moving in from the southwest.

Like Al Roker keeping on smiling his happy face in Dallas while saying the Eclipse weather there would be "INTERESING" instead of the depressing reality.

I remember Comet Kohoutek. What a letdown that was. I was 11 years old and in sixth grade. Dubbed "The Christmas Comet", it was to outstrip the brightness of even Comet Hailey from earlier that century.

I saw Comet Kohoutek pretty clearly without a telescope or binoculars in the early dawn sky in 1973. I was 23 at the time and was in Death Valley with non-polluted clear skies.

Getting reports from Dallas that the clouds are clearing there. Maybe Al Roker will get the last laugh.

Nice! That seems like much better spot to see a comet.

I was dealing with the city lights of Boston in those days.

The middle Florida Keys are supposed to have the clearest night skies in the USA. I can believe that. I was in Key Marathon overnight a few years ago and we went to the bridge where we had a SPECTACULAR view of the night sky.

One good thing about having extreme Eclipse Anxiety on behalf of Charles is that it keeps my mind off food. On Saturday, following a final Friday night gorging at the Chow One Korean Steakhouse buffet, I began my extreme diet to lose at least 20 pounds before my April 27 cruise. Saturday wasn’t bad since I was still stuffed from the night before but yesterday I had real hunger pangs. Right now I have those hunger pangs again but not too bad due to the Eclipse Anxiety.

The night sky is very clear here in rural Eastern Calif near the Nevada border where I live and the stars and Milky Way are quite bright, almost like you could reach out and touch them.

Oh yeah. A lot of money has been riding on the hype. Nobody wanted to be the one to put a damper on it, so they ducked & dodged.

I remember Comet Kohoutek but it wasn’t a letdown.

I had just meet my future wife and convinced her to stay awake all night to see the comet.I told her it was a once in a life time moment that can’t be missed.

We didn’t see the comet but we were married soon after, 50 years ago. It was a once in the life time moment. :)

They just showed Jay Peak on Fox Business. They stated the hotels have been sold out for four years. At least they got some great ski conditions.

My son and his buddies are at a camp ground right by Smugglers Notch.

Just past the maximum partial eclipse in southern AZ. I’ll continue dancing and chanting to see if the sky demons will restore the sun.
