In 2004, any NASCAR television broadcaster caught using "Winston" when referring to Nextel Communications at any time will be fined $10 per offense.

No. In the beginning it was called the Grand Nationals up until the 70s I believe. Richard Petty had Championships in both GN and WC...

"Winston" is only illegal in a certain reference, so Sir Winston Churchill is still, and always, legal.
