A message to “Freepers”:
I invite all who participate to listen up. This is a serious message to those of you who post here. I am a christian conservative and firmly adhere to conservative values. I am a grandmother to be and I want my grandchildren to live an America like I grew up in. I realize that this is impossible now and want to make a difference. I want to keep my family safe from terrorism and safe from the liberal ideology being forced upon us. In this presidential election, I know that George Bush is the only clear choice and am working hard to make that a reality. That said...

I am a grandmother-to-be and I want my grandchildren to live an America like I grew up in. I realize that this is impossible now and want to make a difference. I want to keep my family safe from terrorism and safe from the liberal ideology being forced upon us. In this presidential election, I know that George Bush is the only clear choice and am working hard to make that a reality.
That said... I am also a new person to the internet (believe it or not, there are a lot of folks out there like myself) and have little understanding of what goes on in these forums. I found this site from a recommendation on a radio program and thought that I would be able to get some sensible information and viewpoints that I could relate to and possibly learn something that I was not aware of. The TV programs no longer give unbiased news and even the ones that I watched were becoming part of the media that I found so unsavory.
Oh good... I have found something that makes sense for a change. This internet thing must have some value. What I found, was a lot of knowledgeable people with lot of good opinions. So I began to post articles that I thought would be of value and just maybe someone else could benefit from it. In perusing some of the ‘threads’, I saw that a lot of people have a good sense of humor. So I began to exchange in the fun. I was learning something and having a good laugh at the same time. Then, after one of my comments, someone responded with “DU troll”. What the heck does that mean? And because I posted something that this person didn’t like, for whatever reason I have no idea, that I had lost my credibility??? My curiosity peaked to understand this solicitation, so I checked around and found the web sites explaining what that was. My education expanded. Now, in thinking about it, I had already been branded by an ‘insider’. But that is only one person, isn’t it? OK, move on, I said.
Then the other evening, I logged on and followed a thread...”I am a swing voter” posted by Lepidopteran. See, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1189952/posts, for what I am talking about. It was a late night offering. It was there that I realized how childish some of the responders were and that they had little to offer this person, 'troll' or not. I had to ask myself, are these people really adults. There were a few people that had good input but the rest of the time it was high-school-cliquey-insider-banter. It was at that point, that I had to ask myself if this was a good and productive thing to be involved with. All I saw were people that have a mean spirit, self righteous attitudes and exhibit extreme unkindness. But I thought I would stick with it for a while to see if this was a one time event. So I added a few more postings. Then someone posted: To ALL: KingsKindred, July 28, 2004. (the date that I started with FR forum.) Why did they do that? After pondering that for a while, I came up with the conclusion, the folks here don’t take kindly to newcomers... beware. I now see that the insiders were on “Troll Patrol”.... because that is all they have to offer. Only those that have been here for years and have proven their credibility through childish banter are allowed to participate and have meaningful input. I finished high school 35 years ago. Evidently, some of you never got over it. Is this the “freeper way of life”? Oh my.
What a shame, I thought this site might have potential. Now... you have lost credibility in my eyes. It seems you only have merit when you know and use the words like ping, bump, bttt, lol, and have a title like “liberalassturds”. You have proven yourself meaningless in my eyes and of little merit. Oh yes, another word I learned from you....ZOT!
You've only look at a few posts and made your decision that everyone here is childish. Unfortunate. if you cannot stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Farwell.

We don't trust people who come on here, create a persona of a kindly grandma to be who only wants the world to get along and then proceeds to castigate us and call us childish.
Yes, there are some childish people here. It's an anonymous board. People are likely to be more honest, and more rancorous, than in real life.
But this isn't a place for those with thin skins, leftist viewpoints, or a condescending attitude (especially when you're a newbie).

As a long time lurker and new poster, I have noticed this. I am being quite careful, because I'd like to make the team. I need a conservative 'home.'
I've been called a troll and a disrupter, even a "liberal" (Egads!), but it really doesn't go down in your permanent record. There are always people who are deeply disturbed that not EVERYONE shares their exact set of beliefs. You can choose to make that your problem, or you can just leave it as their problem.

That's a decent start. But to be a real Freeper you need to know what is hugh series, and how to stune beebers. And there's something about Norse kittens. Also never ask someone to hold your beer unless you really want them to watch whatever you're doing.
