I graduated from high school 40 years. I went through a lot of agony in life being "sensitive" about stuff. It was miserable. Now I am insensitive and silly and have a lot of fun. It could happen!

I thought this site might have potential.

You'll be back. There is no other board where you can get the latest international news of import and discuss issues at any level you wish. Of course if you speak Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Tagalog, Polish, Russian, and a few other languages, you can go to the international sites to at least get some news even if they don't discuss much.

So long whoever you were. You're a little too sensitive for the Freeper Crowd.
Go toughen up a bit.Ane come on back.

You express yourself very well. I hope you stay around. We need people like you. Sometimes when I think someone I've just had an exchange with sounds immature, I realize ... that person is probably 22, max.

Never trust anyone under 35 ...

Excellent vanity. What does it mean? Chocolate chip cookies to all FReepers with a sign-up date before 1998 is the best way to win friends...

Welcome to FReeRepublic!

Even though there are many who may subscribe to this kind of behavior, I hope you won't give up on us! I am from your generation and subscribe to all the values that you cherish. I think it is worth hanging in there!

I am sorry you have chosen to stereotype the entire site after reading some of the postings on this forum. At times it gets hot in here and if you are timid, can't accept some criticism and non-adult comments you should (IMHO) turn on your tv and watch and listen to static. You won't find Utopia here or on any other board! Perhaps Yoga and meditation would serve you better. I will not say so long as others have done but just ask that you stop and reconsider, keep posting and deal with reality. By posting you tweek the minds of others albeit they may be twisted minds at times but at least you participate. So, with that said the decision is yours.

Never trust anyone under 35 ..

You have an ironic name considering your age bias, no?

...or a condescending attitude (especially when you're a newbie).

May I ask for some slack to be cut here for a particular reason? I work with older folks (the person who started this thread admits to being a grandmother, that's at least 34 years old in my neck of the woods!), and many of them make the honest mistake of applying face-to-face ettiquite standards to online interactions. We already know that body language cannot be conveyed by the written word, and emoticons are a strange type of symbol for those not accustomed to them.

Older people coming to the Internet are often not prepared for the informality of the interactions that take place, and are unaccustomed to the apparent forthrightness, aided and abetted by anonymity, which comes across as rudeness. It would be easy for a newbie to rapidly misinterpret things, and a downward spiral could result. Some here would toss the older newcomer back to the print and television media worlds, but I'm more inclined to educate, and let the late bloomer make a decision based on new information.

Many of our older citizens worked hard to make a nicer world for us to live in, I'm more than willing to show them the new world we have created without judging their initial impression of it.

Here's what I do: I scroll past the posts that characterize someone new as "troll", that are just absurd, have no meaning or content, etc. There do seem to be a lot of folks lately that are pretty quick on the "troll" trigger, however. That being said, there have been quite a few trolls dropping by of late. Unless the posts are really obvious from a troll, I like to give the new poster the benefit of the doubt. After all, I was a newby once myself.

Let's test some of your theses:

I think that the CFR legislation signed by George Bush is a Constitutional failure of all three branches of Government. Bush could have vetoed it and did not (or is it "vetod"...where's Dan Quayle when I need him?).

I do not think that George Bush is a Reagan Conservative in the sense that Reagan thought that a large Fed was the enemy of the people.

Ok somebody, call me a troll. Plaster me with the DU label. I dares ya!!

The correct term for such an essay in FR parlance is Opus......

This was but one of many. Being disagreeable is characteristic of the world and Free Republic is the conservative world. Lots of thoughts, lots of views, lots of fun.

Dry cod seriousness will get you in trouble every time.

Relax and enjoy us.

hunter112 spoke of forthrightness coming across as rudeness. But then how does real rudeness come across?

Anyway, if you are interested in etiquette, I would point out that when you post a vanity like this, it is considered incumbent upon you to stay in the thread and answer your interlocutors.
