I wonder if filmmakers should be making so many children's or family films in the first place, when children should be READING instead. One of the most telling songs left out of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a chant by the Oompa-Loompas attacking parents who let their kids watch TV instead getting to them to read

Reading is ABSOLUTELY everything. It is important all your life and it is important especially with young people to counteract the damage done by TV and society in general. Young people can see things and go places that the media can never approach. Reading is a habit that it is imperative for parents to cultivate in their households.

I think that we could all learn a great deal from those industrious, orange-skinned, green-haired munchkins.
