I bet the Nationals will win a World Series before the Cubs do.

The name "Senators" is still owned by the Texas Rangers, believe it or not. "Nationals" has historical significance, as the Washington team actually had that name officially between 1901 and 1956.

I can live with it.

I am aware of the fact that the Rangers still own the name and that they want $30M for it. I think it is worth it.

The problem is the Rangers own the name Senators and the want $30M for it. I think W needs to step up to the plate here!
Yeah, he should.

Bud Adams pulled the same crap in Houston, "retaining the rights" to a name he wasn't using anymore. Art modell tried the same thing, but was forced to give up the rights so he wouldn't get sued for breaking his lease.

IMO, if you move a team out of a city, you should forfeit any claim to the name, colors, logos, records, history, etc.....as modell had to in Cleveland. At the very least you should forfeit the rights to a name you're not using.

As the original Senators did when they moved in 1961.
