Senators is the name.

The problem is the Rangers own the name Senators and the want $30M for it. I think W needs to step up to the plate here!

Well that is a sticky wicket isn't it. I was unaware of that. There are times when the capitalist system does come off less than glorious, to say the least.

It does seem that Bush might have a few contacts that could help out here. Failing that, I guess we're back to fuming about 'Nationals'. Ah what the heck, we needed something to carp about...

Yeah, he should.

Bud Adams pulled the same crap in Houston, "retaining the rights" to a name he wasn't using anymore. Art modell tried the same thing, but was forced to give up the rights so he wouldn't get sued for breaking his lease.

IMO, if you move a team out of a city, you should forfeit any claim to the name, colors, logos, records, history, etc.....as modell had to in Cleveland. At the very least you should forfeit the rights to a name you're not using.

As the original Senators did when they moved in 1961.
