Hello my fellow FReepers. I am posting this message to let you all know that I REALLY need some new friends. I live in Tempe, AZ. I'm in my early 30's and tonight I was sitting here wondering what to do. So, I decided to post to see if I could find someone to talk to who lives in the valley here. I am a single male, going to school and I feel like i'm going F'ing crazy. I work 4-5 days a week. Are there any single women out there??? I know this isn't a dating service but who better to spend some time with than a fellow FReeper??? I've been posting here for a little while so I feel I have some privileges to post this. Thanks. ss

I don't think your post is out of line. Nice break from the news. Keep us posted. We expect to hear news one day of two FReepers signing on from the same computer.
Don't sweat it SS. Its lonely when you move to a new place. Even worse if you've lived most of your life in one place and experience culture shock when you move to another part of the country. Stay away from the bar scene (where the lesser sex has all the power). Internet dating sites (Lavelife, Eharmony, etc.), allow you to screen potential mates and I have had more success via this route.

I hear ya, the only problem is, I still live in my home town.
I used to do the bar scene, it was fun, but too expensive and you never know what you're going to end up with in the morning!!!! Well, a new semester is on the way, and I'm returning to a campus i'm much more comfortable at. I've been working out. Went from 278 to 242. I know it's still 242 but a work in progress is a good thing. So hopefully by the time January rolls around, i'll be closer to my goal of 197-200. I'll keep everyone posted on my successes and failures. Maybe a kind of FReeper loveblog. Matter of fact I'll start my first update now.
I met a girl at work, very pretty, moral, W voter, smart, kind. What more can you ask for. I asked her out one weekend, she said she was going to her sister's place that weekend and maybe some other time. So I got her email addy and wrote her on that Sunday. I asked her if I made her uncomfortable by asking her out. She responded, yes, a little bit. She thinks i'm a very nice guy (kiss of death), and that she enjoys talking with me. However, she wouldn't want things to change our friendship and that's all that can be between us...friends that is. She said she was flattered, and that she didn't know I thought a certain about her. (I had written that she was smart, kind, beautiful, moral and so on).
I replied to that email, but before I get into my reply, i'll tell of a conversation we had a little while ago.
She told about a 20/20 or nightline episode she had watched where they talked about what women wanted in a man. Does size matter? (i'm good in this dept. i'm not John Holmes, but I'm not Pee Wee Herman either.) Are women, in general, attracted to someone shorter than they are? (I'm 6ft.) She also told of a guy she met who could talk only about yoga. She wasn't impressed.
Now that i've gotten that out of the way, i'll tell you of my reply and the following day's events.
I told her that I was suprised that she didn't know I felt that way about her. That I thought it shone throught like the sun breaking through the clouds, or like how her eyes pierce my darkened soul and warm my cold, cold heart. Or, like the sunrise over the Superstitions in the morning. I told her that my breast aches to hold her, to cradle in my arms. I said i wouldn't seek her out because I don't want to mess with the work environment. (we work at a hospital, i'm going for my RN.) I told her that I can't believe that i'm so unappealing that I don't even deserve a chance, after all, my conversational repertoire extends beyond yoga, i'm taller than, and I'm big in the pants!! I wanted to end the note with a lighter tone.
So, I saw her last Saturday, it was a little awkward, we were courteous to each other to say the least. I think she was a little pissed because I asked her a question at the beginning of the day, using her name, and she says "are you talking to me?" I'm thinkin, "well, yeah, you're the only named that around here!" Anyway, it was sort of a strange day, I kept getting pages from her patient's rooms including my. The secretary had assigned us both the same pager inadvertently. I soon remedied that problem.
A strange event:
During the course of the day, I was walking down the hall by her assigned rooms, I see a light on over one of them, and not seeing her around, I checked it out. The patient had vomited all over themself. Well, for me to ignore and just walk away would have constituted neglect on my part. I would never do that. So I look around and there she is, way down the hall. I called out to her, and went into the room to help this patient clean up. In walks girl. I start to help the patiens sit up, so we can change her. Girl says to me, "I got it". I say, "well, you may need help getting her up, and changing the sheets and stuff. Don't worry it's cool." I now have my hand on the patient's back, lifting them up out of bed. Girl puts her hand directly on top of mine. I don't whether she meant to do that or not. It didn't seem like to big of a deal, but I figured if she was really bothered by me, then she wouldn't have done that. Anyway, not to make a mountain out of a mole hill, I just wanted to give a brief into to the situation of love and loss in y'alls favourite student's life. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, i'm working overtime unless they don't need me. I'm taking an apple pie that I will be making tonight, first one, I hope it works out. Girl will be there, so I'll let you all know what happens......

You are about the same age as my kiddos, so I would be glad to chat with you, as a kind of mom-to-kid conversation. Of course, that might seem boring.

Not a terrible idea... if someone did it right... I'm wary of internet dating things but there are lots of Freeper couples. Heck, I virtually attended a wedding for one pair.
