So our good buddy Bill Cohen was getting his knickers in a knot over attempts by terrorists to commit earthquakes when they were actually plotting to take over airliners and fly them into skyscrapers.

This sort of thing is central to the plot of Michael Crichton's new novel State of Fear, a great story and, at the same time, a scathing indictment of the environmentalist lobby. The climax of the book involves an attempt to set off an underwater earthquake. In Indonesia. To cause a tsunami. Eerie. And, by the way, the environmentalists in the book are ready to go with their bait-and-switch to global warming.

Q: Let me ask you specifically about last week's scare here in Washington, and what we might have learned from how prepared we are to deal with that (inaudible), at B'nai Brith.
