(Vanity)Terri Schiavo: My insignificant little protest (I believe this is what's called "a vanity")
March 26, 2005

Posted on 03/26/2005 5:50:04 AM PST by Humblebum

I like Americans in the main.

Of course there's some I don't like, but on the whole as a people I've seen more good than bad.

But in the famous words of Edmund Burke,

"All that's necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing."

This summer I was planning to bring my family over to Florida for a long holiday.

Not now.

I refuse to take my family to and spend my money in a place that murders one of its citizens and forces her mother & father watch.

Sorry America, but you've some issues to sort out before you'll be seeing me again.

Yes, it is called a vanity. Typically, however, they aren't established on an on-going discussion. IOW, they usually involved a personal, one-time, or inquiry matter. Most try to restrict themselves to a very few per year.

In any case, welcome to FR.

Try Michigan. During the summer it's where elderly Floridians come to.

There are many that feel as you. You are not alone.

So true. They say that depression is rage turned inward. I'm very depressed over this.

Yeah - we Americans are draping a mantle of shame on ourselves for allowing this slow and torturous murder to continue. I have to say I don't blame you.

But please remember, there are a lot of us Yanks that are just as appalled as you. Please don't lose your respect for us on the evil that a few are promoting. Don't believe the polls you are reading that show that most Americans support this killing. The public here does not know what's going on. They are told by the media here that this poor woman is basically in a coma and life support and has stated that when she was in this condition she did not want to have the life support continued. Our evil in this case is not lack of concern - it's ignorance.

Most Americans (the vast majority) are hard working and don't have a lot of time to keep up with all of what is going on around us. "Newswise" we are a very active nation. With 50 states that are all creating news at an unimaginable clip, it's hard for working Americans to really keep up. That's why they rely so heavily on the evening news and cable news. The evening news has been ridiculous in their coverage of this crisis. They have spread the lie and a large chunk of our population has bought the lie.

But, when people are finally confronted with what's really going on, they are appalled. I work with a very nice young lady of 25. She basically thought that Terri was in a coma and life support. When I told her about Terri's condition and showed her some of the information on-line. She became furious about how we could allow this to happen.

Our judicial system in the States is out of control. The liberals in the media and government are out of control. The average Yank is still very traditional and moral. Just look at the 2004 election and what we found out about our citizens. It's good.

I guess what I'm getting at is - don't give up on us yet. There are a lot of people in Florida that are doing all they can to help. The governor has really gone out of his way. The judicial system in Florida is tyrannical. Bush did what he could in my opinion. Please come on over, the vast majority of Floridians are very decent and more than deserve your respect (and even your $'s).

God Bless You!!

Go to Florida anyway, and imagine you are someplace else. :) If you go to Miami, pretend you have stepped into a time machine, gone backwards, and are visiting Havana in the 1950s. You’ll have fun.

We can do more. In addition to not visiting the State. I wonder what would happen if we stopped purchasing anything made in Florida. Citrus products etc...etc.

It hurt France. I still will not purchase anything made there.

Just check the labels folks.

They can have their mosquito infested swampland.

Humblebum, your protest is NOT insignificant. What people fail to acknowledge, though most know it down deep, is that taking a stand for something often means SACRIFICE. You are choosing principle over convenience. Those who knowingly support enterprises large or small that are hostile to God and Country -- aid and abet the Enemy Within. I salute your SIGNIFICANT protest.

BTTT!

This summer I was planning to bring my family over to Florida for a long holiday.

Just three days ago, I cancelled my family's plans for a trip to the UK this summer. The kids really want to go to DisneyWorld instead.

Good post lula, I will look at labels starting today, if i find anything mfg. in Fla. I will not purchase and, I am going to Al. not Fla. this yr.
On the culture of today, I am very disappointed and the
truth is seventy persent of Americans do not know what is going on in the governing of the United States. I have three
children in their twentys and thirtys, sadly to say they are in the group of not knowing. The young people have the attitude, why should i care, i can't do anything about it. I try very hard to tell all young, get involved, keep up with all current events and, please stay informed with the goverment of the United States.
Thanks to the FR I have stayed informed on the Terri Schiavo issue, i ask people to give in put, their answer is, Its to sad i don't want to hear about it.I ask them, Do you know what the liberals are doing to america and what they are doing to this hepless woman? their answer, I can't do anything about it. So in responce, this has been a very sad week for me , America is going to hell in a hand basket and people don't want to get involved, JUST,!DAMN!

Excellent idea Lula. I will also boycott anything from fla. No Disney for the kids, and when they find out why they will be glad to have that reason; because i have raised them right and they hate what is going on and the refusal of Jeb to get involved.
