I've wondered the same thing, after seeing the commercials for it.

O'Reilly had Steven Bochco on tonight to talk about it. He said it depends on your position on the war to whether or not you'll like it. Whatever that means?

Trick question, right? The only thing realistic about this show will be the sand.

Bochco is a died-in-the-wool namby pamby liberal bridge-protester wus.

The show will be LOVED by the lib press and despised by Freepers.

Just a guess,
Papa Joe

hmm i found this

'SIMPLE PREMISE'

"Our simple premise was that for every young man or woman in harm's way in Iraq, there are husbands, wives, children ... back home worried sick for their welfare and safety," Bochco said. "And in the inevitable backwash of those separations and anxieties, you're going to locate strong, human drama."

Series co-creator Chris Gerolmo, whose previous writing credits include the film "Mississippi Burning," said one guiding principal behind the show has been "to treat the characters with as much respect as we possibly can."

That, however, should not be interpreted as support for the war itself. "We're not writing about anybody above the rank of captain. We're not writing about policymakers. We're writing about the grunts," Gerolmo said.

Still, the program contains references to real-life events that have stirred debate.

In the first episode, a frightened soldier mentions the controversial roll call of U.S. war dead that aired on ABC's "Nightline" last year. And a defiant Arab prisoner of war goads his U.S. captors by alluding to the Abu Ghraib prisoner-abuse scandal.

I guess thats that

Let's see. Believe some show biz hype or someone who has been "Over Here".

I'll be home next week (for good)with a brick to hurl through the boob tube just for spite. During my last R&R I watched TV for about 10 minutes - what a load of horses&%@ coming from the screen.
Kill your TV. Get the "news" from other sources America!
Peace - to a point.

Tony Snow has some commentary on it this morning. He wasn't impressed. He quoted from a report that soldiers previewed it and thought it ridiculously inaccurate and hyped.

Several articles about it have been posted on FR today, but they aren't showing up in title search.

They pushed it so hard on my fave tv show, The Shield, that I grew alienated just by the promos. I won't be tuning in.

I'll predict that the show won't last more than a season.

Hmmm...I don't think Freepers will have as big a problem with it as you think. They had a DVD with footage from the first episode in last weeks Entertainment Weekly. I popped it in and watched it and was real impressed. I actually started a thread about this show last week, so it's cool that other people have taken notice off it. I'll be watching tonight, I guess tommorrow we can all weigh in and share what we thought.
