MIRAMAR, Fla. -- A man was arrested on charges of killing his son's 2-month-old black Labrador puppy by throwing it five stories to the ground after it urinated and defecated inside their apartment.
Josper Sanon, 49, took the dog and flung it 25 feet through the air off their fifth-floor balcony, the arrest warrant said.
A police officer found Sanon's 16-year-old son Steve screaming and crying in the parking lot of their apartment.
Josper Sanon was arrested on charges of cruel death, pain and suffering of an animal, a third-degree felony. He was being held on $2,500 bail.
He faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
Miramar police spokesman Bill Robertson said the fact that the dog was found 25 feet from the balcony shows the animal was thrown and did not accidentally fall.
Sanon's two children were placed in the temporary custody of a family member. Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material
If a 16 year old boy was crying he had other issues to deal with than the death of a puppy.
Not if the dad did it in front of him.
How mean of the dad!
Throw dad off 5th floor balcony.
How about we take this guy and you, and toss both off a 5th floor balcony. Let's see if your kids start crying.
You can try :) better than you have tried, you might be the one crying.
My point is we have had pets die not just dogs but horses and such and once my boys were over about 13-14 they didn't bat an eye.
Are you saying 16 year old boys shouldn't cry?
WTF? The kid just saw his father toss a dog off a balcony. I think the kid earned the right to cry, (and to start planning Daddy's "accident")
There's a difference in a pet dying from illness or an accident than when your father throws a temper tantrum and intentionally kills your pet.
I have taught mine not to instill human qualities to animals that come and go seemingly more frequent than family and friends.
The cruelty of the father should be addressed but the humanizing of animals has to be turned down a bit.
Nothing like a kid that doesn't show his emotion over the loss of a pet. I can see why you are a Proud Dad.
Did you read the story? Sounds like you are the one with issues.
My wife & her liberal 'dog friends' don't believe in capital punishment -- but in this guy's case, they'd gladly make an exception. An interesting window into the way the liberal mind works...
Yup. Really would make me proud. NOT.
Not over this. Maybe there is more to the story, maybe junior was told not to bring it home, they live in an apartment that may or may not have restrictions. Maybe dog was unsing an expensive piece of furniture for a repository.
There are bigger things in this world to cry over, this isn't one of them. Now that dad is arrested and looking at jail time ( probably lost job ) and the pulse of America is on the be kind to animals thing dad may be gone for a few years and we ( tax payers )get to raise the kids and they will probably be mental patients in the future for the family being broken up. Kids now don't have a dad. Cry over that.
...and yes I am aware the parallel of animal cruelty a serial murders etc...
There's a difference between crying for a lost pet and the "screaming and crying" that was reported..
It made me take a second look regarding this kids maturity. It's not like the animal was a "lifelong pet"..
There is no excuses for this find of behavior, only a sick F**k would pull something like this.
Well I am Proud and mine are proud of me, they are prepared for a world that will treat them like crap and is not fair and while it is not bad to show emotion it is bad to let things you cannot control rule the day. Son had no control over dad. Like I said it was a dog, not grandma or sister.
They were taught compasion, but not weakness.
