What I report here is obviously hearsay. It comes from someone I have only met once, and through a third party. The source is/was a volunteer with the Sheriff's Dept in New Orleans. He was asked not to leave and did not, at least for a while.
He talked about his group of eight dealing with armed and hostile gangs roving wherever he was. Apparently these gangs would attack people with boats attempting to help others and take them over. He said his group of eight killed EIGHTY people. Apparently one of his group is in critical condition from a gunshot wound and this is what caused him to get out. FWIW, the source is in the investment business.

I hope that Sheriffs dept guy goes public with this info.
we have the 82nd airborne there.
That's 80 less thugs that the criminal justice system will have to deal with.
As Spanky would say, "Rules is rules..."
-- sides splitting -- oh, there's a reliable source!
Killin' eighty of the lootin bassterds is a good start.
Hearsay your honor, not admissible !
IF, IF, IF there's any truth to this...it may explain the presence of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surprised to hear that Sheriff's Dept volunteers would get that much latitude. But hey, it sounds like good work on their part if true.
I just meant to say he's not a redneck.
And there's all sorts of people in the investment business, I know. Some are seven figure guys, and some deal with people like me. This guy is in the former group.

In 1814 I took a little trip...
And what's wrong with rednecks...
Sorry, but I'm calling "Bullsh*t" on this one.
Along with Colonel Jackson, down the mighty miss-i-sip.
I was singing that earlier today at work.
We took a little bacon and we a little beans...
I don't doubt there were black thugs robbing rescue workers and stealing boats to haul stuff. Many folks stayed in NO because post-hurricane looting is an old hobby down there. And, I don't doubt there have been shootings; many folks stayed to defend their stuff against looters. But, I simply don't believe a story about that many dead!
