Bill Maher's closing bit the other night:

Sorry about your mom. (I have some lefty relatives in N. CA like this too.) Maher is a very small man....probably in many ways.
Bill Maher is the living manifestation, or poster boy, if you will, of what happens to geeky boys that don't get laid in high school (or thereafter from the sound and looks of him).
Bill Maher is the liberal socialist Bush hating opposite number of Dennis Miller, without the wit, timing or intelligence. He is a political bully, only facing conservatives in a forum when he sets the ratio of liberal to conservative commentators at a gang to victim level. A sure sign of a coward.

Wait-a-minute, no.... Maher's show died right after he proclaimed that the United States had no right to go after weapons of mass destruction until AFTER terrorists nuke New York City. Yeah, now I remember. THAT's when Maher's show died.

Maher is just another pissed off lib that is upset that his party is not going to be in power for a long time because they been exposed as the base, disgusting opertunist that they are.

Sure his comments are aimed at Bush but most of what he deride are conservative ideals and ways of life. He is pissed because the tides have changed in this country and people are getting sick of the liberal mindset... we tried the great social expreiment for 40 years.. since the 60's culminating with the clinton presidency. To Bill Maher: IT failed BILL get over it. That is why you are on HBO and other pay to see stations, because the regualr networks know that people will not watch you drivel..
By the way even when he was on the networks he only sprout rhetoric nothing ground shaking or earth shatter.

I can sympathize, it's not my mom or dad, they were conservative to the bone (the reason I am, I'm sure) but I've got an older brother who absolutely hates President Bush and everything he stands for. I find that if I just ignore his comments he stops, because there is absolutely no reasoning with him.
It's OK to hang out at country clubs as long as you complain that there aren't enough car pool lanes, opine about how more people should use mass transit and rail about how global warming is Bush's fault (just before filling up her Lexus). We had a short debate about ANWR one time and she huffed "Well, I just hope that there will be some wilderness left for my grandchildren to enjoy" sniff, sniff ....Sigh!

Military used up? - Nah, about 12% of the US Military is in Iraq at any point in time. 1/8 of anything is not all that much. The work they are doing is priceless and will benefit the world for a long time.
Helping poor people. - Tax cuts help all people, and as stated above, the Federal government spends PLENTY on income transfer payments to poor people - period.

Lots of the Guard got called up and many were casualties in the Vietnam war.

Baseball team - Dubya did pretty well there, then he went on to send a Liberal Democrat up and comer to the showers early. Remember Ma Richards? Neither does anyone else.
