Unless the "head of FEMA" and the "discredited scientist" have a make-out scene, I predict pretty low ratings.

Up in the sky, pilot Col. Mike Davis (Skerritt) flies high above the storm to try to find what in the atmosphere is causing the storms. And what does he find?:
and the Hollywood Left finally have proof it is All Bush's Fault

Please, in your discussions, remember that it doesn't start on the west coast for another 2 hours. Dont ruin it for us.

Every film needs evil villains. And this one has a televangelist and his wife. Played by James Brolin no less - the same one who played Reagan in that awful Regan-bashing film that never got off the ground because of boycott threats.
I will never ever watch any Christian-bashing films if I know in advance that this is what they are.

I lasted the first 15 minutes. Couldn't stand the effects or the zig zagging.

The Chevy Chase Show was more entertaining than this movie.

I lasted 3 minutes. The destruction of France was a great hook.
...culminating in a record-setting Category 7 superstorm over Washington, D.C.
I would have tried harder if I knew it had such a happy ending.

Did you ever see Earthquake? Cat7 is kinda like that (the interwoven lives, story lines) but w/o the high tech, 1970 special effects.
2 thumbs down...just watched about 15 minutes of it.

I thought films like
Rocket Attack, USA (1958),
Invasion, USA (1952), and
Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea (which I saw on the big screen in 1961) were pretty bad, but
Category 7: The End of the World makes them look like
Gone With the Wind,
Citizen Kane, and
Casablanca, respectively.
Besides the unconvincing computer graphics and the bad acting and screenwriting, one aspect of the program that particularly annoyed me was the actors' inability to correctly pronounce the word "mesosphere" (they left out the "s" that follows the "o"), despite the fact that one scene featured the term correctly spelled.
I noticed the program is to be continued next week. If I'm in the mood to watch TV next Sunday night, rather than tuning in to CBS, I'll probably dig out a videotape of a really good TV program such as The Texaco Star Theater, The Toast of the Town, The Voice of Firestone, or I Led Three Lives.

I knew right away it was poorly written. Category # tornadoes? Tornadoes are F1-F5 Hurricanes are Category 1-5

I got as far as the "energy companies" supressing "evidence" that they were causing global warming.
