WORLAND -- A crew from ABC World News Tonight interviewed area residents as part of a planned segment about the motion picture "Brokeback Mountain."
The film about two ill-fated Cowboy lovers in Wyoming is considered the front-runner for the Oscars.
The crew conducted short interviews with residents in Worland and Ten Sleep earlier this week.
"They came in like a whirlwind," said Kathryn Moore, owner of Dirty Sally's in Ten Sleep. "They were pleasant but I was disappointed they were here for such a little time."
Broken Back Ranch owner Terril Mills, who escorted the crew through Ten Sleep, said he thought the ABC News segment would center on whether there actually was a Brokeback mountain.
But instead, according to Mills, "what they were trying to ask is if the ideal of that lifestyle exists in a place like this?"
Mills also expressed concerns over any movie using a name so close to his ranch name.
"I was kind of disappointed in the interview, but I guess I'll have to see how they portray us and our community when it airs," he said.
The ABC World News Tonight is scheduled to air the segment on Saturday. The 78th Annual Academy Awards will be broadcast on ABC Sunday evening.
Why has this movie gotten so much free advertising?
I find it odd too.
Sheepherders.
Because newspapers are run and staffed by a lot of rump rangers and lesbos/feminists.
