SCOTTISH actor Sean Connery sued a California golf club today for breach of contract, saying its managers cheated him out of more than $US500,000 ($680,000).
The former James Bond star joined the Sherwood Country Club of Thousand Oaks, a Los Angeles suburb, in 1990.
According to the lawsuit, Connery, 75, considered the $US35,000 ($48,000) a year he was paying in dues an investment, and that he could recover 80 per cent of it after three years, while the club's owners capitalised on his fame to attract new investors.
But the club refused to repay Connery when he cancelled his membership in 2004, according to the suit filed by his lawyers in a Los Angeles court today.
Connery is asking for more than $US500,000 ($680,000), not including interest, in his lawsuit against the company managing the golf club.
cheaper than polo. ;-)

That was not very smart!
Noonan!
Come to think of it, I consider the groceries I've eaten to be an investment. I paid good money, and now it's all down the toilet! I think the value of that food has dropped dramatically, it's mostly compost now. Clearly I've been duped, and should be compensated.
And my car! I paid tens of thousands of dollars for it, and a few days later, I find out that I need to keep putting gas in it constantly! Why was I not informed of this substantial additional expense at the time of purchase? I should be compensated.
Clearly Sean has been ripped off and should be compensated. But if I consider all the bad Bond movies since he quit starring in 'em, well, that's a class action suit right there, bud.
You would be on my ultra cool list if you post pics of odd job too. You have to include the hat and Pussy Galore too, please.
LOL!
Many thanks. You know, when you get right down to it, that Auric had a good sense of style, golf tog-wise.
Could have used a "councilor" in other areas, however.
That's where you are wrong. Dr. N0 (Tom Daschle) forced him to join the club.
