Freepers,
I've probably posted more stories than anyone on the Duke Lacrosse case for one reason: This thing scares the hell out of me.
To think that anyone can be indicted by a grand jury in the United States and face a rape/kidnapping prison trial based SOLELY on the word of a drunk, mentally-unstable hooker with no DNA evidence, no physical evidence, no eyewitnesses, and multiple conflicting versions of the complainant's own testimony is terrifying. Factor in ATM receipts, digital photos, 3rd party testimony supporting the accused, and a previous (unfounded) gang-rape complaint by the accuser and this trial reaches the realm of "unworldly."
This is no longer just about a "bad case" or an "overzealous prosecutor."
This is a Twilight Zone episode.
I appreciate your time.
I have nothing to add other than I agree and I think you have a great screen name.
I agree with you. If this thing does just fall apart which we know it will, maybe some good will come out of it now the the light is shining on the system.
Bravo!
Maybe this is the last hurrah because the public sees the disparities, or maybe this is the big one. We'll see.
Don't worry about it! Don't worry unless you are stupid enough to stay for a stip show in a private residence featuring some wench like that. To do so is asking for it. The crazy part is, what would young men want to see on a filthy skank like this? who knows?
There is only one crime greater than being a white, heterosexual male anymore - and that is the "aggravating circumstance" of also having come from a family which has a bit of money. When this thing does fall apart, I want to see both the accuser and the prosecutor locked up for a long, long time. But, I also know it ain't gonna happen.
Don't you think that when this blows-up in the DA's face, that he should be charged with prosecutorial abuse. This guy was willing to sacrifice innocent people for his own selfish ambitions. He should be in jail.
Is it any different than Senator Ted Kennedy being allowed to write Immigration law?
The truth in this trial (and in all of God's creations for that matter) is there for anyone willing to open their eyes and see it. Some will never see it. You could have an unedited videotape of the accuser planning the entire hustle and race-baiting retards like the New Black Pampers would still be unconvinced.
Maybe Public Enemy will go on a reunion tour and the Pampers could get jobs as Professor Griff's dancing platoon. Just like Bill O'Reilly, I'm "looking out" for the Black Pampers.
"Even a modestly competent district attorney can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich."...............Former Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals Sol Wachtler
You took the words right off my keyboard, but you know the attribution, which I did not.
If these boys were Congressional, things would be different.
McKinney, no action.
Patrick Kennedy, off in Minnesota, for a little R&R.
Jefferson, taken under the President's protection for the next 45 days.
To quote Bob Dylan: "Can't help but make you feel ashamed to live in a land where justice is a game."
ROTFLMAO! Best laugh I've had so far today, h.
This is no longer just about a "bad case" or an "overzealous prosecutor."
And if this prosecutor isn't held accountable for his rush to indictments we should all be very afraid. What's to prevent anyone from accusing anyone of anything. If folks can be indicted without investigation or interrogation!
It's always been like this.
Thank you for noticing.
Why keep perpetuating the myth? We know that we can't rely on the police and justice system to protect us, that is why freepers have guns.
Don't waste your time wishing it were anything else.
I agree with you. It's really frightening to know how easily some guy like Nifong can ruin lives with government abuse.
