"Please tell me we'll make it past Italy. Don't know if I can take another day of suspense."

Don't sweat.

Germany should be able to beat Italy by a score of 4 to 5 nothing. The Italians are known historically for having a weak defense.

However, Italy beat Germany earlier this year by 4-1. Moreover, Milan beat Bayern Munich also by the score of 4-1. But that's water under the bridge.

Here's hoping (and praying) for a Germany/France final. That would be the most enticing game for a neutral.

Here's praying that it is NOT Italy/Portugal. I don't have confidence that either team would come out to play open, attacking soccer.

Anybody remember the Germany/France semi-final from '82? Great game, great players, great controversy, great comeback, great goals, penalty kicks at the end. Did I mention that it was great? The '86 semi-final actually wasn't bad either.

You make a strong case for Germany!

"You make a strong case for Germany!"

Thanks.

I think Germany has the edge, if the ref doesn't ruin the match.

There were some odds given upthread and the bookies give Germany as the favorites.

It ain't gonna be an esay match for either team.

'Thanks. '

I was being sarcastic.

Don't worry, it'll be over soon. You'll be able to watch Italy tomorrow and in the final. Germany will advance and play nicely in the 3rd place match.

Be calm, all is well.

Good beer. I may have a couple or ten of those if Italy do reach the final. I live in Little Italy so it is going to be a carnival at the weekend should they get there.

It was crazy enough when they beat Ukraine the other day.

I guess it depends on where you are. When I was stationed in Wiesbaden (1997), there was a German team that played in my kids MWR little league.

OK, thank you. Let us see now if your team France will win the world cup. You are spiteful a**hole.

But you already told you how impossible it was for France to win. There again, you don't know what you are talking about!

Was just scrolling through this thread and saw your comment.

I remember the Choke at Doak shirt well. And the game. I was sitting in the endzone. One of the best games of my life. The best being 2 years later when the Gators returned to Doak and lost. Too bad they were allowed that do-over in New Orleans.
