SAN ANTONIO -- Amber Flores said she wants animal lovers -- and parents -- to be aware of her dog's nearly fatal encounter with a bottle of Gorilla Glue.
About two weeks ago, Flores said, her normally active dog, Princess, seemed to lose her appetite.
"Everything was fine except she wasn't eating and she wasn't going to the restroom," said Flores.
Yes No Yes No Yes No
Flores then noticed teeth marks on a bottle of Gorilla Glue and realized that Princess had eaten about an ounce of glue, she told San Antonio television station KSAT.
What she didn't realize is that the glue had grown to the size of a grapefruit -- weighing nearly 1 pound --- inside Princess' stomach.
Flores' veterinarian, Dr. Kristen Rohde, decided surgery was necessary to save Princess' life.
Rohde said she was shocked at what she saw inside the dog's stomach.
"I made the incision in the stomach. We actually tried to get it out of the stomach," said Rohde. "It was just like a big, old, water-logged, soggy mass of rubber. It was like a rubber ball that had been in a swimming pool too long."
Rohde said Princess' encounter with the glue is not an isolated case.
She warned that children are also at risk of accidental ingestion.
"Please keep it out of reach of children or animals because it's really scary," said Rohde.
Flores said Princess is now doing fine.
She said she hopes her story will convince pet owners and parents to keep animals and children a safe distance from Gorilla Glue.
That stuff is great...Nasty if eaten.
Perhaps they should use it on The Big Dig to shore up the Damocles Tunnel ceiling panels.
Good glue, bad dog.........
On a related note, I've also discovered that the Gorilla Tape they sell becomes totally useless if it gets wet.
I think it was a Islamsist Tunnel.........
I bet if they coated those panels completely and pushed them up hard that it would hold better than the idiot way they did it.
Who has that dog ping list?
Ping!
We have a bottle of it as well. Thanks for this post!

Boy, they ought to put a warning label on that stuff or something!
Oh, wait, they do.
Just goes to show that all the warning labels and "safety features" won't stop people (and animals) from doing stupid things.
I actually have an unopened bottle, because somebody said it's great stuff....I just don't know what application it's best for.
Dumb B!tches... both of em...
Lawsuit coming up... even though there is a warning label on the stuff...
Must be a special dog if it "uses the restroom", my neighbors dog just defecates on my lawn, it never banged on the door looking for my toilet.
Perhaps the dog didn't take the time to read the label before ingesting.
Like kids ... you need to be AWARE of what your pets are up to also.

Dumb owner alert!
Don't let your miniature dach$hund eat $ock$ and underwear either, if you know what I mean. I'm picking her up at three o'clock at the vet$ office today.

Heck, that's simple as heck. If you want to stick two things together, and duct tape won't do it, use some Gorilla glue. That's all you need to know.
Sometimes, though, you'll want to use some duct tape to hold the parts together until the Gorilla glue sets.
It's a synthetic glue that is good for bonding wood, or unlike substances (like wood to metal, glass, etc). Very strong, and a pain to work with.
What makes it real problem if ingested is that it reacts to water (if gluing wood to another substance, it is necessary to mist it with water), and foams up, then hardens. Thus the big nasty clump in the dogs stomach.
I'm not fond of it, but is handy from time to time. I've never managed to use up a bottle before it went bad, though.
