(vanity) Another Air America downgrade (Vermont)
8/17/06 | raccoonradio

sorry for the vanity but I am unable to link the article due to copyright restrictions. According to the Burlington (VT) Free Press, the local Air America station WVAA 1390 is switching to sports as of this Monday (WCAT). The Air America programming will move to WTWK 1070...which is daytime only.

Yes, in "progressive" Vermont, they found that ESPN makes more money than Al Franken and are putting him on a lesser signal (at least it's daytime only...) Another loss for AAR... a sign o' the times.

The libs just don't get it, but mostly they don't care, because they are spending the money of fools and traitors like Soros.

Air America would not exist if they did not have the wealthy dupes.

Thanks! When I tried to post it, it said I couldn't due to copyright issues.
I DID post it on the WVAA board though.

Recently I was in that area, and I was next to a waterfall in Winooski (just across from Burlington). The towers for
WVAA are in the "intervale" section of Burlington (walking trails, farmland), right across the river from where I was,
and Air America was ALL OVER the AM dial (the signal splashed over a wide range because I was so close to their tower).

If I had gone to that area NEXT week it would have been
ESPN splashing all over the dial instead! :)

Article I posted via WVAA board (schadenfreude!)

The problem is that the libs are emotionally driven which does not translate well to radio. Talk radio is an intellectual media. Take a look over at DU and it doesn't take long to see the raw emotions (usually hate) spewed forth venemously and without reason.

Liberalism IS a mental disorder.

Exactly--as I mentioned on the Radio Equalizer board, in NYC you have big powerful stations like WABC and WOR running the likes of Rush, Hannity, Savage, and Ingraham. If they thought Franken, Rhodes, etc., could make money, they'd gladly run AAR. Instead, AAR winds up on a forlorn station further down the dial...and as of Sept 1 it moves waaaayyy down to 1600... where listeners may get "splashover" from a traveler's info station at 1610...

In the free market what people want succeeds, and what people don't want goes down (though a billionaire can keep
them afloat...which leads me to wonder, how did Soros
get to be so rich when he's so DUMB!)

ha ha!

Air America's website lists WDEV 1390 in Waterbury VT(they say "Montpelier") as an affiliate. They have not ever been an affiliate and will not, as far as I know. Go to the WDEV website and you will not see the AAR logo, nor will you see the names of Franken, Rhodes, etc., mentioned. Outside of the slim chance that maybe WDEV is planning to go AAR,
why does AAR list them as an affiliate?

>>raw emotions (usually hate)

check out the comments on blogs like Radio Equalizer. You will notice some have profanity and lots of ???question marks??
and !!!exclamation points!!!...These always are by libs/progressives. You never see this done by conservatives
posting there. (Also the libs make spelling and punctuation mistakes--and when you point it out to them, they call
you names and say that their spelling (or, as they would
say, 'there spelling') is perfectly acceptable.

I think I've only ventured over to DU twice and could not stand all the profanity. No reasoned debate to be found. When the left is a bunch of relativists, what is there to debate?

AA, according to their website, has only about 90 affiliates. They need all they can get, even if they have to lie about it.

gotta love it

Because the numbers are are more important than quality with the left. If AAR was on a couple of hundred low power stations with next to no listeners, they would be more happy than if they had a good following on a few dozen in large markets ( of course that isn't going to ever happen ).

They couldn't brag about just a few stations. They play the numbers game to give the illusion of a wide audience. They had the idea that "if you build it they will come." Well AAR did and the listeners didn't.

From their track record, the best they could hope for is niche market type of setup. A national network can't be supported on any mode, except by leftist patrons with more money than common sense. They've proved it.

Almost every leftist online agrees that they all hate the Jerry Springer Radio Show. Many ask why it's on AAR. He's lost a few stations recently, most notably in the NYC move he's not slated for the new or old station. It looks like his days a a national radio host are numbered. Here comes the funny part. If his show goes away, AAR loses about two dozen stations with that one move. They count all stations that carry only Springer's show as AAR affiliates, even though they don't produce it. That's the reason they added a couple of dozen stations to their count at one time over a year ago.

That happened after Clear Channel also gave them a numbers boost to the tune of about twenty stations. CC put AAR on some of their under performing stations. AAR gave CC their show for free in most instances. A few stations in the CC deal switched to other formats causing much lefty wailing and gnashing of teeth. Many are still AAR stations but the most important part is that CC never repeated the "experiment".

Good info!

>>CC put AAR on some of their under performing stations.

Which is why I thought it funny that David Crosby (in a thread I posted a few days ago) talked about the big eeeeeeeeeeeevil
company that owned "14,000 stations" (actually 1,200) which
was strangling the artistic community, etc., and was all
run by GOP supporters. This same company, Mr. Crosby,
managed to put that stupid liberal network on their airwaves.
Their Miami station, WINZ, has the following on their
site: a Bush countdown clock, links to "Democratic clubs",
and an offer for "This Vehicle Pulls to the Left" bumper
stickers. On bottom of page: "© 2006 Clear Channel Broadcasting, Inc."
So much for "evil right wingers" at Clear Channel, eh?
