I've had my share of concussions via Football and motorcycle accidents, but fortunately no cameras were around to capture the aftereffects.
Rather disturbing the (ideally)short-term damage he sustained after that monster collision he sustained to his noggin.

I've had two concussions - one serious and one mild. Don't ever care to go through it again.

Man, that dude was one hurting pup. Hope the coach gives him a day or two off to clear the bats out of his belfry. That was painful.

Looks like a clean hit, too... that one's on Palmer all the way. Hope CJ didn't sustain a brain injury.

I'm a little concerned about him to be honest. I'm sure he receives impeccable health care, and hope he isn't rushed back to action; the brain requires a recovery period. The league needs his talent and draw.
And I'm not a huge Bengals guy by any means, but I respect their program, and admire his ability.

that one's on Palmer all the way Yep, the pass needed to be kept down low where he could have used his body to shield the defender.

Doctors would like to see one week of inactivity following a concussion.
Much as they rushed Rothlesberger back onto the field, I do hope they DON'T rush this player back too soon.

no penalty, hmmm and the NFL says that they are trying to protect the players.. uhh huh.

Being from the Maryland Highlands (that's Appalaichan coal country, to you Left Coasters), I put the Bengals about #4 on my NFL rah-rah list, after the lamentably bad Redskins, my late father's team, the Steelers, and the 'Balmer' Ravens. Gotta support the regional folk. (Oh - screw the Iggles.)

no penalty, hmmm and the NFL says that they are trying to protect the players.. uhh huh I still believe that they are trying to protect the players. I think that they have been very inconsistent this year, and have simply missed some illegal hits, while occasionally mis- judging incidental contact as personal fouls. I don't see a concerted effort to pick and choose, just an increase in blown calls.

What other fanbase can pack 25,000 people into training camp.

If the Skins don't get too far, I keep Plan B, C, and D in my back pocket. Might as well enjoy the rest of the season.

The lesson is....
Never, ever get pass happy when you're up big in any level of football. The Bengals were killing the Browns at the time, Johnson and Palmer had no business even being in the game at this point. Running long pass plays smacks of running up the score. Right or wrong, NFL teams have always laid a little extra smack down when they feel they're getting embarassed. I have a feeling that this was also the reason for the non-flag.
To: Dysart
the refs are horrible period, the NFL has NOT done one thing to adress that in the off-season, look to have the superbowl screwed up again by them.
To: Dysart
Chad was interviewed the next day and seemed fine. He said that the guy who hit him "couldn't stop 85 but he did knock him out." He said there was no reason to investigate the hit because "it happens."
He seems to have recovered and the official story is he'll play on Sunday. The Bengals would not rush him back unless he were medically cleared.
