I wonder how long before Kitna starts getting scapegoated for the Lions' woes, the same way (and for the same reasons) that Joey Harrington was?

Oh, and before some jackass brings it up, this isn't a thread about the time some of the Pacers went up into the stands to fistfight some Pistons fans. Thanks for your restraint.

I found your topic about Kitna while checking to see if this had been posted. Something I vaguely heard on the radio suggested that Millen had been fired, but I found nothing in a news seach, and then this blogger op-ed looked good.

and at the Dallas Cowboys , who on New Year's Eve will probably looking to bag the No. 2 seed in the NFC

They're pretty much out of that race, they are for all intents and purposes two games behind the Saints with only three games to play.

I think part of the problem (maybe most of it) is a permissive atmosphere regarding use of every kind of drug, and it probably got its start or accelerated during the last thing resembling glory years, the 1990s. I don't have any inside information, so don't ask.

Kitna is the least of the Lions problems. The Lions need an owner who wants to win.

Darn, because my first reaction when reading a thread about the Lions is always to want to comment on Ben Wallace's hair.

The writer is off in concluding that Dallas will be playing for the #2 NFC seed. And look at the bright side, at least the Lions aren't the Texans.

All part of William Clay Ford's master plan to get the top draft pick, so he can get another kicker with it...

I remember reading about various teams who, after a series of forgettable seasons, managed to screw up the #1 draft pick by an inopportune win near the ends of their seasons. The phrase from the fans was, "they can't even lose right!"

I say, a win is a win. And generally, picking #2 winds up better, as it clarifies the thinking. :') Also...

10. Bill Parcells... contemptuous attitude can make it easy to cheer against him... It's just fun to watch the guy with all the answers -- for his players, for his coaches, for the media -- flunk the test every now and then. Parcells is so condescending and so contemptuous of others when they make mistakes, that it's a sincere joy to watch the Tuna flounder in the pressure cooker of late-game decision-making. Having Bledsoe firing away in the closing seconds against the Seahawks was pure Marty Mornhinweg.
And while we're on the subject, congratulations Marty Mornhinweg! Glad we could be there for ya. ;'D

I think yesterday's game should give Lions fans some hope for next year.

Kitna is about as good as the Lions have had since Bobby Layne. They played a lot of teams tough, but they collapsed in the fourth quarter. If they can shore up their offensive line and get a decent pass rusher, they have the talent at the skill positions to be a nice team next year.

Romo Empire wasn't built in a day

Matt Millen's wretched 6-year tenure as the Lions' general manager appears to be close to an end. Millen will sit down with owner William Clay Ford after the season, and that meeting is expected to result in Millen finally stepping down/getting fired. The Lions are 23-68 since Millen was hired, 2-9 this year.

Count on a lean list of free agents

Not even the Millen Man March conducted by angry Lions fans last week has been able to coax GM Matt Millen into resigning. League people who know Millen said the only way he'll be leaving his post is if owner William Clay Ford tells him to take a hike. And despite the Lions' pitiful 6-year record (23-72) under the former linebacker and broadcaster, the feeling right now is that Ford won't be telling him to do that. Millen is in the first year of a 5-year contract extension that Ford gave him before the start of the 2005 season. Just goes to show you that Dan Snyder isn't the league's only village idiot.

That’s a switch — lack of Kitna is being touted as the reason for the Lions’ loss to the SB champs. But anyway, the schedule:

September 9, at Raiders
September 16, Vikings
September 23, at Eagles
September 30, Bears
October 7, at Redskins
October 21, Buccaneers
October 28, at Bears
November 4, Broncos
November 11, at Cardinals
November 18, Giants
Thanksgiving, Packers
December 2, at Vikings
December 9, Cowboys
December 16, at Chargers
December 23, Chiefs
December 30, at Packers

G’wan, predict outcomes, I dare ya. ;’)
