Stargate executive producers Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper are officially on the record regarding the third live-action television series, now in the early concept phase. The two talked about the new series in interviews at MGM's official Stargate Web site.
"That's definitely in the works," Cooper told the site. "It's something the studio is very actively pursuing. We have a concept that we've come up with. ... We've talked at length with the studio about what the concept is for it."
The idea currently on the plate could be turned into a feature film, Cooper noted. "We came up with an idea that we thought would be a great Stargate feature that really was a separate, third entity to the two existing series," he said. "It's entirely possible that we'll turn that into the third series. I can't really say too much about it right now. But like Atlantis, it maintains the spirit of Stargate but at the same time opens up a whole new universe."

I dunno, I think they should focus on making SG Atlantis the best it can be. First season was slow, second season got better somewhat (haven't seen 3rd yet).

I thought SG-1 was weak, that Atlantis was the better of the two. If they make Atlantis a little edgier ala Babylon 5 or BSG it could rock.
My ideas:
Atlantis: Now that Carter is there, kill off Weaver and let Carter take over.
New Series: SGC decodes use of the 9th chevron, teams start exploring other time/dimentions or alternate realities.
Ohhh yeah. The could call it......wait for it........."Sliders".
Just joshin' ya.
That could be a real good set of story lines. Perhaps even culminating with a face to face with The Ascended Ones. They've been cruisin' for a bruisin' for some time now.
Firefly was the best sci-fi show on television, but it won't come back. As is the nature of canceled shows, the actors and actresses have moved on and getting them all together again would be very difficult. They might get another feature film though.
I'd be thrilled if they could do something like 2 or 3 straight to DVD films in a row, sort of the way they did Lord of the Rings. But even with all the "Browncoat" support, it's doubtful that the $$$ to justify that sort of outlay would be available. That and the fact that the a$$hats at FOX still own the rights, and I doubt they like the fact that they cancelled one of the best shows ever on TV: The last thing they can allow is a resurection of a series that will make them look like the idiots they are.

"Weaver"?
I think you mean "Weir". I disagree. There was a crossover episode with all the characters from both shows awhile back, and it was very good--no need to kill off any more main characters on Atlantis.
Isn't that "ER"?
Ok, Ok, it's Weir. Dang thing has been off the air too long.
