I have been a lurker since just after 9/11 when I found FR and I have also seen a disturbing pattern as well this last year or so of an increasing amount of defeatists on FR, what on earth is their goal? are they a group paid by our enemies to sow disaccord? Or are they intellectuals trying to be contrary just to spark impetus of a thread? either way I am getting tired of seeing them so often and I do hope we can police FR in the future, sorry about my rant but I feel my one little voice has something to say about this.Many times I feel like just lurking to stay aware from these nuts so I really do not post often.

Thank you for your very well-stated response to me. In answer to your question above, I am absolutely convinced that at least a portion of the all-negative-all-the-time people are paid propagandists. This may sound far-fetched to those who are not aware of what's going on elsewhere on the internet, where, in addition to predators of all stripes:
--> bloggers and reviewers are being paid under the table by companies to give great reviews to their products,--> well-funded front groups from across the political spectrum, and from around the world, are using online forums to spread their propaganda.
I've particiapted on FR for a long time now, and these days I mostly just lurk just as you do. Other than one weekend thread I do regularly, I post only when something strikes a particular chord.
