Cars don't kill people - celebrities do.
Matthew Broderick probably saw this story and realized how easy he got off. The big difference in this case is the enormity of witnesses. In Broderick's accident in which two people died, there were zero witnesses.
SUV's do kill though. I have seen hundreds of articles which say so.
