A man who is believed to have killed up to 100 million people in his life is to be the subject of a positive $60 million biographical film portrait, if a Hollywood producer gets his way.
"Challenging Heaven" by Steven North will tell the story of the founding of Communist China with Mao Zedong in the role of George Washington.
North is currently trying to romance Beijing into offering support for the project.
"This is a very positive portrayal of Mao, and we are hoping that once the script clears the approval process, China will come forward with services and support," he said.
North is hoping to begin shooting after next year's Beijing Olympics.
Among the kinds of support North seeks from the Chinese government are thousands of extras.

Actually Isaiah 5:20..
Thank you.
That’s a creepy note at the bottom from Mao...
Moral relativism, eh?
Hollywood is the town that glorified Che Guevara in The Motorcycle Diaries. Why is anyone surprised at this?
If Hollywood fell into the sea, it would only be an improvement.

I’m with you on the “new depths” theory. Some of these folks would be smarter after being hit in the head with a ball bat!!
And Steven Soderbergh—who looks like a Cardassian in his IMDb publicity shot—is releasing *two* Che Guevara movies next year and, from the IMDb descriptions, they definitely sound highly pro-Che. No surprise there.
On a side note, there’s a dance club in Dallas called “Che,” with the infamous Che image done in mosaic on the side of the building. It made me want to puke when I saw it the other day.
I can imagine SEVERAL people in Washington, D.C., uttering such a statement.
In this country we expect this sort of statement from folks in the entertainment industry too.
Yeah, really. They love to call it the “red scare,” as though there was nothing to it, while in the next breath saying “Action!” for a Che or Mao love letter biopic. The only one they will vilify is Stalin. They seem to think they can put the evils of communism off on him. “Soviet communism would have been great if Stalin hadn’t messed it up!” Which is not to say that the Hollywood communists of the era didn’t love the guy, but they were smart enough to pile on when it became convenient to do so.

/I could imagine Hillary making that statement./
Could explain why it was sooooo easy for Hillary to walk out of the White House, stealing as she went. ..antiques; paintings. . .silver. It was all there; just for her. . .and for the taking. What will she call her 'own' should she return?
It explains a lot about Liberals actually. . . Remember how the Dems looted the Embassy gift shops, wherever they went. They stole sheets and towels and anything else they could stuff - Berger style - into their 'pants and socks' from their luxury hotels and even our Navy ships they visited. We paid all tabs, of course. . . (Speaking of Berger; just another example of Liberal 'helping hands'; even worth a treason. . .)
Am totally overwhelmed by disgust for this project and hope it brings outrage to a majority of Americans that Hollywood Leftist can damn George Washington; and do. . .and desire to make praiseworthy, Chairman Mao.
Feels like we are in a 'free-fall'. . .going...going. . .
This should be picketed and boycotted. So should all this creep’s other movies.
And then only to use him as the antithesis of Lenin. A ying/yang kind of thing: "If only Lenin had lived...", "Lenin never wanted Stalin to succeed him...", etc. etc. etc.
IOW one could do no good and the other no evil, when in fact this cult of Lenin came about in 1954, by Kurchev (sp?), shortly after Stalin's death. Up till then no one particular carried about Lenin or his death, or looked back on his regime with a wistful sign. (Remember Stalin made use of the tools that Lenin had created.)
Anyway, after Stalin's death Communism had such an appalling reputation (and track record) that in order to salvage what they deified Lenin, i.e. "Stalin seized hijacked the Revolution", "Lenin was used by Stalin", "If only Lenin had lived..." All with Lenin's kindly, parental face everywhere and anywhere...The whole thing was/is about as Madison Ave. PR as you can get.
The China lobby is alive and well.
Read the book “Mao, the Untold Story.” I hate it when the left makes heroes out of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Che or other murderers.
“We’ll need thousands of extras. Just leave em dangling from lamposts and trees around the country.Cheaper that way!”
Joseph McCarthy has been vindicated.
Elia Kazan, I hope in private you wore Hollywood’s scorn as a badge of honor (to quote Dan Quayle).
