Need advice:
I have a friend who needs money and wants me to buy his Ruger P-89.
I used to own one and carried it as a duty weapon and loved it until I bought a Glock so I wouldn't mind owning one again just to take to the range. It is in great shape, has the orig. case, 3 clips, and he claims to have only fired 4 clips through it at an indoor range.
He wants $300 but I could buy a new one for that. What is the most FReepers think I should pay. (I'm willing to go $250 because I know he needs the money, but not $300)
C’mon it’s $50 spread. It’s not like you’re getting RIPPED off.
If he’s your friend and needs the money give him $300 and have him throw in something else to make up the difference.
Just how hard up for cash is he?
Offer him a C-Note loan, with you holding the gun as collateral. Better deal than he'd get t a pwn shop.
Friendship and money should never be used in the same paragraph. It's business.
I'd go with something like this or the 'split-the diff' at $275. Guns come & go, except for heirlooms maybe, but if he's a good guy, its an easy deal to make.
Just my $.02.
oops...see post #5
Perhaps you can sponsor a bake sale, a car wash, or a raffle for your friend.
I bought a used stainless P-89 with two 17 round mags at a gun show for $285, but that was about 10 years ago.
First, learn the difference between a “clip” and a “magazine”.
They’re going on Guns America for around $300 for the condition you describe.
If he’s really your friend and needs the cash, the extra $50 won’t kill ya’.
Thanks for the advice. My concern was that I didn’t want to shell out $250- $300 for something that was only worth $100.
Re: only worth $100.
Then don’t offer a cent more.
