CHAPARRAL, N.M. — Six roosters were shipped to animal control authorities in Albuquerque after a raid on an alleged cockfight in southern New Mexico, but 138 other roosters were euthanized, officials said.

New Mexico banned cockfighting this year, and the new law went into effect in mid-June. It makes participating in a cockfight a misdemeanor for the first two offenses and a felony punishable by up to 18 months in prison for subsequent offenses.
Otero County Undersheriff Norbert Sanchez said his office received tips from the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department and the attorney general's Animal Cruelty Task Force that there was going to be a cockfighting "Christmas Derby" in Chaparral. The Otero County sheriff obtained a search warrant for a Chaparral address based on those calls, he said.
Sanchez said people fled the area when officers arrived.
Were these people running from punishment of Cockfighting or INS Raid?
More illegals just doing the jobs most Americans refuse to do.
How's those immigration checks coming along? Too bad the owners weren't euthanized instead of the poor roosters.

As to your next point about it being your father's "heritage," around in my area many "undocumented migrants" (some Mexican, some others)driving while drinking or even drunk is also in their "heritage."
However, this is America and killing people while driving drunk or seriously impaired is NOT IN OUR HERITAGE and this is America so love it, abide by our rules or leave and return to your "heritage" where that activity is accepted and embraced.
Ok first of all about finding a better class of “friends” i never said they were my friends, i said i know these guys.. and in through my dad. Second i was born and raised here, I am as white as they come really, I do not approve of cockfighting, but i would not ever look poorly at my dad for doing what he enjoys. My oldest son who is now 4 used to even go with my dad all the time to the cockfights, and it is not like he would run around attacking the chickens that we have here at my house, my son along with my dad are the most loving people i know. My dad cares for his roosters better than most people do their dogs. You just really need to know what you are talking about before you open your mouth though.
