I guess I tend to always wonder what provokes attacks like these, instead of blaming the animal. Perhaps that makes me one who values animals over humans, though I really don’t think I do, however, I’ve seen the terribly cruel actions humans are capable of doing to each other, not to mention to helpless animals, so whenever there is a story like this I usually end up defending or siding with the animal.

but...there is such a thing as a “bad” animal.
As a child I was attacked by a “bad” german shepherd - unprovoked.

Animals are capable of possessing different temperaments.

Having said that - the zoo is responsible for restraining those animals no matter what the circumstances.

I’m surprised to learn there were no cameras in the zoo of such a large city - and I’m surprised it was open on Christmas day when there wouldn’t be enough staff around to walk around and properly monitor.

I’m sure the most common problem all zoos face are children or stupid/drunk teens who think it’s fun to tease animals.
