Unless there's a "source" who is willing to sign a deposition then there's no "source".
Think about this one ~ guy is injured by a tiger ~ bleeding all over the place ~ and someone checks his blood/alcohol level on the way to the hospital?
That's called putting your priorities in place eh.
Then, by the time he gets to the hospital for more professional treatment they've taken his cellphone, probably his wallet, found his keys ~ and there he is "naked to the world", laying on his back, and the zookeepers are making up stories about him.
Another young fellow is dead, probably equally field stripped, .....
Is this the way things are normally done in San Fran whenever there's an auto accident ~ steal their stuff first!

The BA level is typically obtained by the hospital ER personnel at the hospital. They check for drugs and booze to help them decide what drugs, if any, to give, and how intoxicated the injured party is.

No where in the article does it state that they (I presume you mean the paramedics) tested blood in the ambulance. Im not even sure thats possible. It would however be SOP for the ER to take blood samples in order to type and cross match for giving them blood which they probably needed given they were bleeding. And the ER docs would also need to know if they had alcohol and or drugs in their systems as that could impact the course of treatment.

My you paint a vivid picture. Are you perchance a personal injury lawyer? Related to John Edwards?

you’re right.
My first thought when I read the headline was that those brothers would not have been placed in the same ambulance anyway.
I know of a situation where a family member was told by an ems worker their relative had been decapitated in an auto accident. The ems guy “knew” this was true, because he was “there.”
The relative actually had only suffered a broken wrist and injured her knee.
