That one was a hoot. I remember all the Mother Earth types and envirowackos (who, by the way, were then predicting an Ice Age) were wetting themselves over how "this was the way man was supposed to live - in harmony with nature."
For those not old enough to remember, the Tassadays were a "newly-discovered" tribe in the Phillippines. Then some French reporter checking out the area noticed that the guy with the transistor radio in a nearby village looked just like the fig-leafed chieftan. He asked the guy, who was very open about it. He said that their Congressman told them their village would be famous and that they'd make a lot of money.
All those anthropoligists who waxed lyrical, and printed coffee table books about the tribe went into denial. I remember an incredulous TV reporter showing one author a direct comparison between the naked natives in his book and the townspeople in jeans and the guy just stonewalled. I think that was the first time I heard "Denial is not just a river in Africa."
