Viewpoint: George, it’s time for a vacation

Mr. President you look — to use a phrase I’m sure you are familiar with — tuckered out. You are certainly looking worse for wear these days.

Who can blame you? You are heading into your final months in office with historically low poll numbers, the economy is in the dumps, former pals are ripping on you and you’re almost out of a job.

It’s enough to make a former drinker like you head for the Jack Daniels. SNIP Congress? Mr. President, surely you jest! As far as I can tell, the Democratic leadership is still trying to sort out the bathroom schedule. And you know how the Senate can be. Those folks can bloviate for days on nearly any topic (war, taxes, mistresses).

I wouldn’t concern myself with missing any important legislation. It’s an election year, as you know Mr. President. The last thing in the world Congress wants to do is actually make any decisions. And they will avoid controversy like Barack Obama will avoid the Rev. Wright. SNIP So tie up a few loose ends — a half day’s work, tops — and just disappear for, oh, a year or so — don’t even come back to hand the keys off to the next president. How cool would that be?

when you reappear, you could be sporting one of those wicked Al Gore beards. Man, would that throw the enviro-hippy-Peta-loving- America-hating-no-lapel-flag-pin-wearing liberals for a loop!

In the meantime, take a long nap. Crank call Rumsfeld. Send Scooter Libby 10 pounds of rotten fish just for laughs. Call your old man and ask him if his refrigerator is running.

In short, be the frat boy we all know you are in your heart. That’s the way we want to remember you.

Turn this around a little bit, and instead of George W. Bush, who enjoys a low but steady approval rating, ask the same things of the Democrat majority of both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. For those of you who do not know, the DEMOCRAT-DOMINATED Congress has an even LOWER approval rating than even the supposedly despised President.

Easy answer, send the Democrats home. Whichever one of them is running for re-election, vote for the person running against them for the office. Sometimes it will be just another Democrat, but at least, a Democrat with a different face.

And if I were to make jokes about recovering alcoholics, your Lefty buddies would brand me an insensitive, cruel, bigoted, small-minded hypocritical Bible-thumper. Glad that snooty Democratic frat boys have the moral high-ground to make fun of the struggles of those who have come through alcohol addiction.

The party that claims that it "stands up for the little guy" and wants you to believe that it protects you from the rich fat cats, the scions of privilege, rolled over like a two dollar Chicago whore to protect Teddy, a rich fat cat scion of privilege! And it did the same damn thing to protect Bill Clinton, a serial rapist, woman-abuser adulterous, disbarred, purjorous, rich, white adolescent moron who put his own self-pleasure ahead of the sacred office of the President, the Constitution, and the oath he took as president to protect the country from all threats, foreign and domestic, including HIMSELF! As well as the lying, hypocritical and shopworn members of the so-called National Organization Of Women, who after bloviating for a quarter century over how a woman would NEVER LIE about rape, about how it was simple too horrible a crime for a woman to even allege without being 100%, absolutely always true, b-slapped Juanita and at least four other women who claimed that Bill Clinton raped or groped them, simply because the NOW women knew that no matter what a smarmy, vile, putrescent, filthy rapist Bill was, he would make sure that Roe Vs. Wade and abortion on demand would remain the law of the land.

Sorry. I'm really ashamed for crumbling like that.

What happened to all the Okie’s who came West to help make California into a great state.

Most have died and left their hard earned money to kids who don't appreciate what their parents had to go through or else have moved back to sanity in Oklahoma.

Personally, I did not care for the authors language and his mockery of those who's twang just does not fit his smug condescending attitude.

I've wondered about that since I read “Grapes of Wrath” in high school. When I moved out to CA in the mid 1990s, I was pleasantly surprised by the strong work ethic and no-nonsense approach of professionals my own age (now 50s), and by the number of inventors, without the intrigue of New York. It seemed like the pioneer spirit was alive.

My folks came out to California with the Okies during the middle to late 30’s about 1938.

They worked their butts off and eventually ended up a true success story.
