The skeletons were found at the site of the Battle of Monterrey

None of mine relatives. They fought elsewhere; and they all survived, and made it safely home.

Some marched, as part of a ‘company’ of Mormon volunteers, from Nauvoo, Illinois to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to join up; then marched (via Santa Fe) to Baja.

After the war, they then marched to San Diego and mustered out.

It was their own two feet all the way; my feet and knees salute them!

Then they then marched via San Bernardino (I've visited one of their camp sites up near Cajon Summit on I-15) back to Nauvoo in time to march to Salt Lake.

Meanwhile, on my mother's side, GGGrandma was born, an Army brat, at the Benicia Arsenal, in 1846.
