While that description of open source programmers exist, remember that who’s contributing depends on the product. For example, the majority of code changes for Linux these days comes from developers working for companies.
Of course for your case you also had the option of forking your own branch. People rarely fork because they can’t get along with each other. There’s one notable exception, but in his case his arrogance is matched by his skill.
You stick with your PC. I’ll stick with my Macs and PCs, and have the competitive advantage over you.

Nice try. I am posting today with my MACBOOK Pro, and I also have a MACBOOK. I did not say that APPLE or MACs are bad. What I am doing today is exposing the APPLE fan orthodoxy that APPLE is near perfect and Microsoft is crap. This article tells a far different story and I wanted to have some fun with the "wound-way-too-tight" Apple crowd. I have succeeded in spades and have just had a great time with it. I love all the Apple folks like brothers and sisters and I hope they are not too upset with me.

I enjoy my Mac, but I am not unhappy with my PC at work.
My macbook is a couple of years old and you may recall that there was an issue with overheating and improper shutdown. I remind my FRiends that these are also made in China, which is not known for high quality. Not to say that other devices are not built there too, but that quality lapses make me look back to the country of origin.
It was resolved for a long while, but now it’s back. I will have to call it in to Applecare. :p
BTW FileVault is a pain, let me tell you. The Applecare rep told me that it was not wise to use the file vault feature and that it was the source of my improper shutdown issues.
So older technology was probably built with better quality control, even if there are great new features now.

I just read the actual report, not just read the article. Here are some facts:
Apple is 0.7% ahead of Microsoft on the list for reported vulnerabilities.
Microsoft is two places head of Apple on vulnerabilities for which there is an actual exploit, and this includes proof-of-concept (which is most Apple exploits).
The top 10 active, in-the-wild-doing-bad-stuff-right-now malware for each of seven different categories were for Windows.
The headline looks bad for Apple, actually reading the report looks bad for Microsoft.

Honest question: what apps do you use that aren’t available on a P.C.? Or is it a matter of security, ease of use, etc.?

I just buy the games for the 360 or PS3, whatever, and avoid having to deal with all the patching and "can my system handle it" junk.
Though, to stay on topic ... when it comes to NON-gaming issues, I love my PC! =)

I went to console gaming for three main reasons:
It’s simple, if it’s an XBox 360 or PS3 game, I know it’ll work on the XBox 360 or PS3, respectively. No wondering whether my system is up to spec.
Cost. My console is good for at least five years. I used to spend more than the cost of a console constantly upgrading my system to be able to play the latest games. The best graphics cards already cost more than a console.
Security. With online gaming only my console may be be owned, not my computer.

That wasn’t BRK’s point was it? Of course others are vulnerable—it’s just that Vista is more vulnerable.

You are saying that the GNU/Linux people are unable to "get along," and promoting the superiority of the BSD crowd.
Probably the most infamous open source project leader is Theo De Raadt, of OpenBSD, who is notorious for not playing well with others. He has also criticized Linux developers for not insisting on open source drivers.
