Troops donate more campaign money to Obama than McCain, despite McCain's military record

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. soldiers have donated more presidential campaign money to Democrat Barack Obama than to Republican John McCain, a reversal of previous campaigns in which military donations tended to favor GOP White House hopefuls, a nonpartisan group reported Thursday.

Troops serving abroad have given nearly six times as much money to Obama's presidential campaign as they have to McCain's, the Center for Responsive Politics said.

....

"Obama will work tirelessly to uphold this nation's sacred trust with its veterans, to ensure they are not forgotten after they return home and he will provide our troops with the leadership they deserve, as well as the support they and their families need," Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro said.

....

The report tracked donations of $200 or more. It found that 859 members of the military donated a total of $335,536 to Obama. McCain received $280,513 from 558 military donors.

This story does not ring true. What are the odds that someone is donating and saying they are military so a story like this can be published?

I don’t believe the military is supporting Obama. Probably Soros using military names to get more cash in Obama’s hands — illegally.

Another bogus story. Nothing but Soros/Kos/MoveOn sock-puppets donating and cliaming to be from the military.

And I expect Soros has a gameplan in order for rigging the elections.

Total bunko story. Saw the same nonsense 4 years ago where the media said the military favored Kerry.

Cut and run Paul said the same thing about himself. Saying it does not make it true. Does any sane person actually think our brave men and women in uniform who risk their lives to keep America free would support two of the most anti-Americans around? I doubt it also.

ABC radio news had picked this up and broadcasted it last night. I haven’t yet heard them pick up the lists of foreign nationals campaign contributions that have been detailed here on FR, inluding especially the Palestinian brothers whose money was “returned” (NOT) by the BO campaign. I’ll start holding my breath now, and please ping me when that report shows up on the news.

“Troops donate more campaign money to Obama than McCain, despite McCain’s military record.” ................ Only one guy in a dozen I know may have donated to Obama, and I even have doubts about him. I think its more about Obama’s “military record” than Mc Cains. This is an AP survey, its garbage.

Look, this is specious thinking—typical of the Drive Bys. The reason B. Hussein got more money than McCain is probably because McCain was in a battle with a lot of other candidates in the Republican party. So naturally he would attract less from a certain population.

Military money probably went to Republican CANDIDATES more than it went to DEMOCRATS. Because the ‘rats only had two real contenders, B. Hussein vs. the Beast, it is likely he got more than the Beast.

No real depth to the story—but it makes a great headline for the Drive By Media.

I hear our soldiers in Brazil, France and Cuba are very zealous for Obama.

Doesn't mean a thing. Most troops don't make enough money to give away to politicians anyway and the ones that do are usually Officers hedging their bets on future promotions. This study was for over $200 and I very seriously doubt real warriors are ready to part with that kind of money for a couple dimwits.

That averages out $502.71 for McCain and $390.61 for Obama.

Didn’t we hear the same about John Fricking Kerry in 2004?

is this the same type of “obama visiting the troops” but he only staged meetings with black soldiers (pictures from abc anyone?) in order to propaganda that only black people are in the army?

Perhaps Yahoo’s sample is likewise engineered.

This factual account brought to you by the same folks who say Corsi’s book sales are due to right wing organizations buying in bulk. LOL!
