Vanity: Obama campaign worst in history?
Posted on 09/10/2008 2:40:12 PM PDT by ssaftler
Question for the general FReeper nation: Is it just me, or is Obama/Biden trying to make the Dole/Kemp campaign of '96 look good?
Seriously, gaffe after gaffe after gaffe. It seems that the only time these guys open their mouth is to change feet.

It is going so bad, they are calling the beast to rescue the democratic party. I think all Gop candidates are getting a coatail pull upwards.

I dunno . . . the McGovern-Eagleton-Replacement Offers Nos. 2 3 4 5 6 7-Shriver ticket was pretty inept.
To: ssaftler
Gaffes are better than not swinging at all. Bush the Elder ‘92 and Dole ‘96 were worse campaigns. Perot threw them off, and they were afraid or unable to appeal to the base.

It may be, but I think it’s more the fact that Obama has been completely shielded from scrutiny and has run an almost unchallenged campaign - until now. You could ask Hillary Clinton...

who cares....and I am concerned that some seem to want to "help" the Obomination and to give "hints" etc.....
besides....Dole and Kemp were never ahead....never had an advantage...were behind from the git go and never got better..

I’ve had this conversation before on FreeRepublic and agree with you wholeheartedly. I would state though that he ran a very effective and smart Primary Campaign. His General Election Campaign has been nothing other than a trainwreck.

No. Dukakis is still firmly on that throne.

Oh, and let’s not forget Dukakis ‘88. When your opposition runs your own promotional footage of Dukakis in the tank like that, the campaign has become a joke.
Seriously, Obama has recovered from gaffes before. There are still 55 days, and memories are short. It is good to get momentum now with early voting in so many states, but look out for the October (or even November) surprise. The last big one was the closely held Bush DUI in 2000. My suspicion is that there is enough on Obama that McCain’s staff is holding back, but you never know.

He’s never faced real GOP opposition before, and it shows.
He’s not ready.

He is by far the worst candadate the D’craps picked, but he is still not out. If he tosses Biden (which there is a 80% certainty he will) and can land Hillary, McCain is in for one hell of a battle! Be the first election where both Presidential candidates are under qualified!

Low ball figure: Just because Obama is 1)Of dark skin (Identity politics gone mad) 2)Has a (D) in front/behind his name) 3)Pro-Abortion 4) Collectivist... he is guaranteed at least 45,000,000 votes/probably at least 200 EV.
A lot of the constituency loves sucking the teat of DC and their State governments.

For goodness sake how could I have forgotten 5) Vote fraud, the 110% turnout in those “poverty stricken” districts really come in handy in key States.

They honestly expected McCain to be the Dole/Kemp of 2008. That’s why they’re so cheesed that he didn’t pick a white guy for the ticket, and part of the reason for Palin Madness Syndrome.

As GOP presidential campaigns go, the
Blaine/Logan campaign of 1884 and the Dewey/Warren effort of 1948 were also pretty bad.

Not just this campaign. His entire life.

Kemp! I was wracking my brain earlier trying to remember who Dole's VP pick was.
Jeez - was that forgettable.

the primary was “wonderful” to watch because it was a crowd full of “college students” on summer vacation...now that school has started...no crowds...only adults left...and they are turning out for John & Sarah.
It is that simple.
Also now that McCain has his 85 million in his “pocket” he doesn't need to campaign and raise money...he and Sarah can focus on “running their campaign and talk WITH the people...whereas O has to beg for money...
O has made mistake after mistake...and his money is drying up, as well as his popularity...
