From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Fort Pierce woman chooses jail over paying Waffle House bill By Will Greenle | TCPalm.com 7:35 AM EDT, October 21, 2008 FORT PIERCE - Given the option of paying her $7.45 Waffle House check or going to jail, Maryanne O'Neill chose the latter.

The 66-year-old woman ordered coffee and a sandwich about 3:45 a.m. Saturday at the restaurant in the 7100 block of Okeechobee Road, a Waffle House worker told police in a report released Monday.

O'Neill finished both and then left, telling the Waffle House employee she was going across the street to see a friend but would return shortly.

The Waffle House worker notified authorities after O'Neill, of the 100 block of Maple Street, refused to settle the bill.

Another article that begs a question and then doesn’t answer it:

Why didn’t she want to pay?!! Was she a nut; did she think it tasted bad; did she not have any money . . .

She should have gone to a more expensive restaurant if she was going to do this. LOL.

She lives on Maple Street? LOL. You can't make this stuff up.

Obama said he was going to feed the hungry and she simply wants the bill sent to him.

The funniest thing about this article is that she's being charged with "defrauding an innkeeper".

Is this a lesser charge than, say, theft?

Well if she thought the food at the Waffle House was bad, I don't think she'd going to care for the grub at the local slammer.

corner of Pecan St. LOL!

If I had some capital, I would build Waffle Houses in soCal. Need late night food option and cheap breakfast. Building has small footprint and can be tucked into the corner of a parking lot.

So you can go to jail for ditching a dinner bill, but if you choose to stop paying your mortgage because you’re “upside down” or “under water” or some such B.S. many people nod sympathetically, and life goes on...

Good heavens.

If Nick Nolte were a woman . . . that's what his lineup photo would look like.

We need to bring back “debtors prisons”.
Too many people are walking out on the obligations and honest businessmen and women are paying the bill.
